Analysis: ‘Pure socialism’ Green New Deal: “Air Travel Stops Becoming Necessary” This morning, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez released an overview of her “Green New Deal” which threatens “a massive transformation of our society.” Below are the details of the proposal. Rebuild every single building in the U.S. “Upgrade or replace every building in US for state-of-the-art energy efficiency.” Will end all traditional forms of energy in the next ten years. The Green New Deal is “a 10-year plan to mobilize every aspect of American society at a scale not seen since World War 2 to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.” Plans to ban nuclear energy within 10 years if possible. “It’s unclear if we will be able to decommission every nuclear plant within 10 years, but the plan is to transition off of nuclear and all fossil fuels as soon as possible.” Build trains across oceans and end all air travel! “Build out highspeed rail at a scale where air travel stops becoming necessary”. Don’t invest in new technology of Carbon Capture and Storage, just plant trees instead! “We believe the right way to capture carbon is to plant trees and restore our natural ecosystems. CCUS technology to date has not proven effective.” Mandates all new jobs be unionized. “Ensure that all GND jobs are union jobs that pay prevailing wages and hire local.” May include a carbon tax. “We’re not ruling a carbon tax out, but a carbon tax would be a tiny part of a Green New Deal.” May include cap and trade. “…Cap and trade may be a tiny part of the larger Green New Deal plan.” How much will it cost? No estimate of the total cost of implementing the Green New deal is offered by Ocasio-Cortez. However, as Ocasio-Cortez admits, “even if every billionaire and company came together and were willing to pour all the resources at their disposal into this investment, the aggregate value of the investments they could make would not be sufficient.” She does provide one estimate that the cost to “repair and upgrade infrastructure U.S. infrastructure” alone will cost “$4.6 trillion at minimum.” How will it be paid for? Don’t worry about that. Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t provide any insight into how the trillions of dollars in spending will be paid for other than claiming, “The Federal Reserve can extend credit to power these projects and investments and new public banks can be created to extend credit”. Bus as Ocasio-Cortez says, “the question isn’t how will we pay for it, but what will we do with our new shared prosperity”. Ocasio-Cortez wants to pay for her Green New Deal by essentially printing more money ‘GREEN NEW DEAL’ LOOKS TO TACKLE THE SCOURGE OF ‘FARTING COWS’ – Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s newly-released “Green New Deal” resolution has gotten a lot of attention for its 100 percent renewable energy goal, but the bill also vaguely references another source of emissions. The resolution calls for a World War II-style mobilization effort to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural operations. If that’s the case, that means any subsequent “Green New Deal” legislation would have to deal with a major source of methane emissions — cow flatulence. “We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast,” reads the initial version of the resolution’s fact-sheet. However, Ocasio-Cortez staffers have since removed “farting” from fact-sheet. The resolution’s fact-sheet reads: Methane makes up 10 percent of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions that scientists blame for global warming. Enteric fermentation, the digestive process in cows and other ruminant animals, is the largest source of U.S. methane emissions, according to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) data. EPA says “cattle account for the majority of [methane] emissions in the United States for this source category,” referring to emissions from enteric fermentation. The question then becomes: How do you eliminate emissions from cows, sheep and other animals? Alexandria Ocasio Cortez isn’t simply passionate about socialism, she also says she’s so worried about the environment that she can barely function. Last week, she took a jet to Copenhagen and was reduced to tears thinking about how irresponsible it would be for her to have children. AOC: If I were to have a child in the next few years, he, she, or they, will have to contend with the world where some of our most precious, critical infrastructure goes underwater. I speak to you as a human being. A woman whose dreams of motherhood now it taste bittersweet. Because of what I know about our child future. And that our actions are responsible for bringing their most dire possibilities into focus. Tucker Carlson: Still when he, she, or they. Even when she’s having a climate meltdown, she always remembers to express the current gender orthodoxy. She knows what’s most important. Joining us now is Marc Morano, the publisher of Climate Depot and the author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Climate Change. I don’t want to dismiss this as what it appears to be which is something — this does seem like lacking in perspective. I think this is pretty common. I don’t think she’s the only person who feels this way. Marc Morano: No, she’s not, and there is actually about five decades of environmental, left wing, you could argue socialist movement behind her attacking having kids and scaring kids. Back in the 1960s, Paul Ehrlich’s book, The Population Bomb led to the same kind of thing. People fretting over having kids. Carlson: But we don’t have enough kids in the West. We are actually due to extinction. Are they aiming this at Africa? Is a Ocasio-Cortez looking at people in Africa and saying no more kids for you? Morano: I think AOC’s sincere. Al Gore himself went to a Bill Gates function and said Africa is projected to have more population than China and India combined and he called for what he called “ubiquitous fertility management”in Africa. Here was Al Gore basically telling Bill Gates that there were going to be too many Africans in the next century and we needed fertility management to keep them in check. Carlson: What is that? Morano: I think he’s talking about access to birth control, sterilization. But the best access to population control, is wealth. The wealthier a country gets, the smaller the family sizes get. Carlson: The left really wants to make this argument that the third world needs to stop reproducing? That’s a creepy argument, the kids of the problem? Is that really what they are arguing? Morano: Absolutely. There was a climate activist, Eric Holthaus, who announced he would not have kids. Just a few years later, he welcomed his kid into the world and said children are the greatest home ever. Kids are hope and what they are trying to do is scare the kids that we have and they are trying to scare people out of having them. There are kids who signed a Canadian pledge not to have kids when they’re older until government acts on climate change. They have tied having kids and scaring kids to passing the Green New Deal. They call themselves the Green New Deal era, generation. The kids of the Green New Deal era and they will not have a future unless its passed. They say anyone who says they have a future is in a liar unless we pass the Green New Deal. Carlson: This is not science. It’s a cult, obviously. Children signing a pledge not to have children is hard to believe. This is deeply disturbing. Morano: It’s so far removed from science. It’s the regulatory state using kids now — the climate scare is nothing but the latest environmental scare to push central planning, sovereignty limiting treaties and wealth distribution. There is nothing unique about the global warming scare. Every scare since the 1960s has had the same ‘solutions’. Carlson: Right. More power for them. KILMEADE: Finally those unwilling to work have rights. The plan doesn’t have a price tag on it. Some estimates claim it will cost $7 trillion. That’s way too low. EARHARDT: Way low. KILMEADE: Others peg the cost five times that. EARHARDT: Someone said a gazillion, right? Morano: ‘Global warming’ is merely the latest environmental scare with the same centralized ‘solutions’

They started this in the late 1960s chiefly with overpopulation — the Paul Ehrlich [author of The Population Bomb] scare, resource scarcity, and other environmental concerns at the time, and always the same solution.” Global warming is merely the latest environmental scare with the same solution, Morano says. “In my book, I interviewed Naomi Klein, who has a book called This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate. They are very open by saying that capitalism is not compatible with a livable climate. ‘We must get rid of this [capitalism]. This has to be overthrown.’ In fact, the latest [United Nations] report featured many climate activists and one of them said, ‘This report makes it clear that we cannot have capitalism any further. It’s destroying the planet.’” … “[Socialism] has become hip,” Morano says. Climate change and socialism fit “together because the youth are the ones being most severely indoctrinated on climate change. They are basically told that you can’t have single family homes, you can’t have modern appliances unless they’re completely de-neutered of power and regulated, you can’t eat meat, you must limit your plane travel, etc.”
