Climate activism and UN Climate Week insights with Mark Morano:

Morano: I wanted to share a few examples I’ve dealt with over my 2 decades, going back to the U.S. Senate, to re-evaluate how we have kids coming out of college and high school full of climate fears.
Leonardo DiCaprio has made many climate films, and a lot of them aimed at young people, and his philosophy was, ‘we need to get kids young’ in order to turn them into climate activists.
Al Gore’s producer, Laurie David has said, ‘we want you to grow up to be activists’, that is her message, and I think this has been a flaw approach because what happens is you get these overly aggressive, scared, passionate kids, which you think are great. But then as time goes on, their passion fades, and I think fear-based motivation is not sustainable.
Joe Piscopo: That is Marc Morano at the UN, former senior staff member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, publisher of ClimateDepot.com, and always a great guest on our show. We always appreciate Marc taking the time. Hey, Marc, congratulations- you’re at the summit, walk us to the UN Climate Week, and you didn’t have to use a bullhorn. But you got your point across. Tell us about it, Marc, and welcome to the show.
Marc Morano: Thank you, Joe. Yes. I was actually quite stunned. I went to about 100 people at this event; it was this division of the UN Climate Week. This event was held at NYU’s campus in New York City. They had what’s called the Sustainable Green School. I was one of the 4 speakers on a panel, with the moderator, and the room was packed. The room consisted of students and academics, , academic support staff, other professors, and what was amazing about it is I went in, and this might surprise you with the intended idea of not being bombastic.
I thought I would go in and try a different approach, a kindler gentler approach, so I went in and this was my thinking I went in as a communications expert on how — if I were a climate alarmist — how would I improve their messaging and their whole approach to the public. I literally took that angle, and I can tell you that by the end of my talk, I got a lot of talk time, and on the hour panel, I opened up with about an 8-minute opening. I was able to do a PowerPoint; I showed them how they scared the hell out of kids. I got into all about Amazon rainforest scares. I got into EVs; I got into offshore wind and whales; I got into how EVs take material from China; how we shouldn’t be calling them green.
I got into how they are brainwashing kids, and the thing is, people were nodding in agreement. Other panelists were agreeing, because if they thought I was a fellow leftist academic, they thought that this was good advice, and they weren’t immediately turned off by, ‘oh, here’s some, you know, nut, job, climate, denier, blah, blah, blah, blah.
I never, I never actually revealed that much. I would say, things like, I work for the US Senate Environment, and we collect the names of scientists skeptical of climate. I talked to them about how scientists were suppressed during COVID and how you have to have academic freedom.
I used their phrases like ‘We need diversity. We need to have open debate; we need dialogue’. I had people say, ‘great point’, ‘good point’, and the Q&A I got the most questions directed to me, I really enjoyed Mr. Morano’s talk. So I had what I would call an experimental afternoon of fun. I got all my points across, but I did it with a smile, and I did it with actually heartfelt like if you guys actually wanted to have an impact and not have your movement die. Here’s what you need to do, and they seem to really respond.
It was a totally different presentation than the initial vision I had of going in there and calling up a bunch of loons and radicals and idiots and out-of-touch action.
Joe Piscopo: You know what a lesson to be learned in politics, overall, Marc Morano. Well done. Bravo, my friend, because that’s the way to do it. You kill him with kindness, but you kill them with common sense, and they see it because they understand they’re trying to brainwash kids. And once you and that’s so happening in politics. …
That’s a great-great lesson, and they’re listening, because is the UN still like really ardent and Greta thunberg? Crazy, they were years ago.
Marc Morano: Yeah, Greta’s actually been back the last couple months she’s back on the on the climate beat going on talking about all back on climate for the moment, taking a pause from, you know, anti-israeli stuff and the UN secretary general this week announced are they unsaved the planet. They’re admitting that the whole UN Paris Agreement failed. Now, Al Gore just came out during climate, he just came out with a big article yesterday. And this was the UK guardian, and he is like Mr., optimism, but he did say the resistance, meaning those opposed to agenda, has been more durable, but he’s now saying that we are very close to the positive, he’s saying, very close to the massive public opinion going to be unstoppable, they’re going to agree with. As the day is coming when our momentum will overtake the resistance. So if he actually believes they’re on the cusp of victory.
And I went to Bryant Park, and I went to the library, the Post Office site, the library in front of that, and I’m telling you, Joe, I was there yesterday. I couldn’t use I was doing radio interviews live from the spot you couldn’t even hear they had the communists and the Marxists and the Maoists, the CCP supporters; all came out on the steps of the Post Office on the opposite side of Bryant Park in New York City, they had the Communist paper, they had Karl Marx images and photos; they had Soviet style support; they had headlines with young generation going Communist. They were all out in absolute force yesterday, and they are a big coalition of this whole climate week. Code Pink was there, and all the climate activists as well — the Sunrise Movement — they were all coalescing together to do these rallies throughout the week.
And by the way, I want to say one of the important things: the 100,000 figures cited by the activists, repeated by the media for Climate Week was a total lie. There were times we couldn’t even find scraps of people; you’d find someone calling for climate justice on one sidewalk, but they were just nowhere. It was a decentralized, you know, climate week, and we had to actually go out of your way to find the climate actors, they would have events like the ones I spoke at, but this was no mass protest, supplying, I’m an activist, and I think that is a you know, that’s something a media fallacy that was created.
Joe Piscopo: Yeah, well done. Well done. And why doesn’t you and gotta bring climate into it, how did that? What was the was that Gore brought that in, because you think the UN, let’s talk about peace? Let’s let’s talk about, you know, the UN not allowing people to come in, who are of members of oh I don’t know, Hamas, you know, I mean, you know, they should be worried about that stuff, they’re worried they go to the climate situation like and they make it political. How did that start Marc?
Marc Morano: Well, it started back if you go back to first of all, the 1960s and 70s were worried about may global cooling to the point where Richard Nixon president Nixon got letters from academia warning about, you know, coming ice ages, and we had CIA reports on this. You had NASA scientists all warning that all flipped by the early 80s, and then you had young Sen. Congressman and then Sen. Al Gore from Tennessee, doing hearings on climate and that within by 1988, the UN formed this climate panel, set up as a self-serving lobbying organization, so it all traces back to 1988, the UN decides. We’re going to set up a panel of experts, we’re going to handpick the scientists who only agree, and we’re going to say that carbon dioxide’s driving a catastrophe, and because of that, we need the UN to be in charge of solving it, so they got to come in, come up with identifying. The problem is solving it, being paid to come up with a solution, holding annual summits. By 1992, the lowest moment for, yeah, in the United States, was when George H.W. Bush decided to sign us on to this Rio Earth Summit treaty, which is what Donald Trump is finally withdrawing from; we’re formally out of it in February after 34 years of this nonsense. And so that’s how the UN got involved. Then they had the annual summit. They’re involved specifically, because they can get they’re funded by the taxpayers from around the world in UN. They’re funded by corporations and international organizations to host these climate conferences. The UN is in charge of the solution; they get all these carbon taxes, Net Zero; they go after global shipping emissions; it becomes a revenue stream; it becomes a power stream; the current head of the UN, Secretary-General Gutierrez, is the former president of Socialist International. What better way to be a socialist than to suck down trillions of dollars from governments and taxpayers around the world to fund your little scheme? So the UN will always be married to the climate agenda, because the climate agenda is about power and money. And that’s what attracts so many of these, you know, wealthy guys, wealthy corporations, and all these activists are just unwitting. Stooges, who don’t realize that you’re just pawns in this game of money and control.
Joe Piscopo: Boy, oh boy, this is great. This plays across all avenues of politics. And the way you approached it is brilliant, Marc. Well done.
Marc Morano: Thank you. Yeah, I’ll have videos where I have all my transcripts, everything I said I did the PowerPoint, which was just brutal, it showed climate anxiety. It showed how Leonardo DiCaprio wants to get kids young. Al Gore’s producer we want you to be an activist, I told him about the indoctrination; I said it was counterproductive. This is, you need debate open. And again, people were like, this was because they weren’t. They didn’t feel threatened by me initially, so they were receptive, and I think, you know, a lesson was in, they learned, I don’t know what the lesson is. Maybe I’ll figure it out in 10 years, but I was fascinated, and I was happy. I took that approach.
