Climate alarmists have long warned that rising temperatures would lead to the virtual collapse of coral reef ecosystems, most importantly Australia’s magnificent Great Barrier Reef.
Britain’s lefty Guardian newspaper actually wrote an obituary for the “devastated” Great Barrier back in 2014. But the reefs are bouncing back and the last five years have been the Great Barrier’s best coral cover on record.
The Australian Institute of Marine Science surveyed 121 reefs and found 28% have seen an increase in coral cover, which is the percentage of a reef’s surface that is covered by living hard corals. Another 56% saw no net change and just 16% declined.
“Not all scare stories are true,” says Bjorn Lomborg, head of the Copenhagen Consensus Center. “But the media doesn’t report that when it comes to reefs.”
It’s just another reminder to the environmental apocalyptics that nature is MUCH more resilient and adaptive than the “scientists” admit.
