LETTER: Coal remains a primary source of U.S. energy

Larry Cohen’s recent letter (“Columnist is wrong, climate change is real”) makes much of claims that solar generation of electricity is beating the pants off coal-fired power plants, while perpetuating the fearmongering of climate alarmists.

According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, coal generated more than 10 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity worldwide in 2024, about five times more than solar and a few other minor sources altogether.
