Biden praises high gas prices as part of ‘incredible transition’ away from fossil fuels
Biden: “[When] it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over,” Biden said during a press conference in Japan following his meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Climate Depot's Marc Morano: - "Biden said the quiet part out loud. Skyrocketing energy costs are the intended consequences of Biden's green energy policies. He left unsaid when this alleged 'incredible transition' will deliver the magical climate and energy utopia. The climate policies of the Biden administration are not only disastrous to the economy and are imposing maximum pain on the American people, but they are anti-human and anti-freedom. Biden is parroting the same message coming from the World Economic Forum in Davos. Out of touch as ever, President Biden celebrated record-high gas prices Monday, gushing that the pump pain was part of “an incredible transition” of the US economy away from fossil fuels.
“[When] it comes to the gas prices, we’re going through an incredible transition that is taking place that, God willing, when it’s over, we’ll be stronger and the world will be stronger and less reliant on fossil fuels when this is over,” Biden said during a press conference in Japan following his meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
The president then insisted that his administration’s actions, rather than increasing the price of gas, had actually been able to “keep it from getting worse — and it’s bad.”
Only then did Biden pay lip service to millions of Americans who have found themselves spending thousands of extra dollars to fuel up their vehicles.
“The price of gas at the pump is something that I told you — you heard me say before — it would be a matter of great discussion at my kitchen table when I was a kid growing up,” Biden said before admitting, “It’s affecting a lot of families.”
As Biden spoke, the average cost of a gallon of gas nationwide sat at $4.596 per gallon. Several states are seeing an average cost of more than $5, while California’s average cost sits just above $6, according to AAA.
Republicans blasted the president on social media, with many accusing Biden of celebrating the higher gas prices as Democrats continue to push a radical environmental agenda.
“Biden refers to the skyrocketing gas prices as an ‘incredible transition.’ They’re saying the quiet part out loud now,” House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) wrote. “They’re causing you pain at the pump because it’s all part of their radical agenda.”
“Allow me to translate this: The Biden Administration is prepared to let your family suffer economically to advance their climate agenda,” Texas Republican congressional candidate Wesley Hunt posted. “It’s a ‘transition,’ alright. A transition into poverty. This is socialism.”
“Keep this in mind next time you fill up,” Boston radio host Gerry Callahan tweeted.
“THIS IS WHAT THEY WANT. The pain is the point. The beatings will continue until all the intransigent rabble comply. Shut up and trade your F-150 for a Prius.”
Climate Depot’s Marc Morano, author of Green Fraud: Why The Green New Deal is Even Worse Than You Think, comments: “Skyrocketing energy prices are exactly what the climate and environmental agenda demands and has demanded for the past 50 plus years. From President Obama to President Biden, higher energy costs have been the plan to soften up Americans and the economy to prepare them for accepting less in order to impose the progressive vision on society. High energy prices and shortages will condition Americans to accept a ‘new normal’ in energy that is entirely due to following the climate agenda.”
Former Obama U.S. Treasury official Mark Mazur rejects the call for a gas-tax holiday because it “undercuts the administration’s climate change goals — where really to care about fossil-fuel consumption, we don’t want lower prices for fossil-fuel buyers, we prefer higher prices.”

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm made a cameo in a music video produced by environmentalist group Coltura for their anti-fossil fuels song “Gasoline, Gasoline (The World’s Aflame).” The video shows Granholm singing the group’s song, the lyrics of which call for leaving fossil fuels — dubbed “fossil fools” in the song — “in the ground.”
Granholm’s participation in the video, as well as Coltura playing a part in crafting legislation, were first revealed in a Monday reportby NPR. The report came shortly after Granholm laughed off a question about increasing domestic oil production, calling it “hilarious.”
The Video features climate activist Bill McKibben and others. The lyrics include:
“Gasoline, gasoline, you are driving me insane. Gasoline, gasoline, the world’s aflame…We had a good run, but now were done….We gotta leave you in the ground.”
