Probably just thought I was naïve, because as the years went by, and I started seeing threats show up against me and then even got DOXED. And he certainly was correct.

To me, this is unreal. I’m not talking about the scientists on the other side that disagree with me. Most of them don’t know it, but I read their research, see where they are coming from, but believe they over attribute co2’s role. There are reasons for this, one of them is THEY DO NOT FORECAST, where you get a real appreciation for the total picture of the atmosphere. They are focused on their issue, and are in a position where they can’t pull back. Its why Michael Schellenberger’s book ‘Apocalypse Never’ is so remarkable. He was in the middle of that and while believing as most of us due (but to highly varying amounts) Co2 is a factor in the climate, he came around to saying what most of us have been saying about how what is being advocated is harmful. Combine that with the fact that there is no mercy from that side if you break ranks, or there is no tolerance of dissent, and it takes a lot of guts, hearts, and smarts to do what he has done.

So it’s not the scientists. It’s the people that have decided this is now a way to change our way of life for one. Or that this is their issue where they can save the planet. I am competing in the arena of ideas for instance with people that were tending bar in college (not that there is anything wrong with that) while I was spending hours in the map room at Penn State researching the maps on storms from the 30s, 40s and 50s. And when they speak, they reveal their complete ignorance of how bad the weather was and can be And now, they are in control of policy and wish to silence people that actually know what went on. How we have come to this, is beyond me. You can say in the face of Covid, or people starving, or people trying to keep a job, that in 12 years the world is coming to an end because climate change is the biggest problem we have facing us. It is almost incomprehensible that this is where we are today.

Please don’t misunderstand me. People can say whatever they want, even if its from ignorance and arrogance. But then the try to intimidate people into silence? And if that does not work, threaten to take steps that are plainly against our constitution? How is that acceptable to even the most ardent liberal? Perhaps it is because liberal today is a misnomer, for liberal implies that you are a free thinker, not someone that seeks to limit the free exchange of ideas. And it is apparent that we are on a path to silence dissent, but any means necessary.

But that it has come to this, shows you how far as a nation we have fallen about true freedom in pursuit of the right answer on any matter But it can and likely will get worse. Recently another meteorologist brought up with me that in this politically climate, people may try to silence me under the guise of me spreading unrest with forecasts. Unless it comes from the government, then it can not be heard.

Perhaps I am paranoid, or am I?

I want you to look at this impact forecast issued by us for the Hurricane season last April.

Remember, THIS IS NOT JUST LISTING NUMBERS, IT’S TELLING PEOPLE WHERE WE BELIEVED THE HURRICANES WERE GOING TO GO.

So this went out in April:

A chilling thought

Here is what happened:

A chilling thought 1

Remember it is one thing to forecast numbers or ace index (which we also do). Quite another to tell people before the season WHERE THEY ARE GOING TO GO!

No one in the media has said boo about this. However given the political climate, what could happen if this was the actual result, a non season like 1982?

A chilling thought 2Would I be accused, especially since what I do is not condoned by the government, of spreading panic or inciting unrest? Afterall you put out the map I did, the implications are such that it would lead people that believe it to react (which is what companies I serve do, they will hedge their planning with this in mind. If they are ready before, they have an advantage, if not, then I cost them money. Do that enough, you get fired). I put it out in public after clients see it for a while, since people interested in getting a jump, may buy our service. But the point is if this season did not occur, we are now in a political climate where people that don’t like my climate stance, or me trying to innovate in the private sector, may demand that I be silenced, or worse.

For instance, already this year we are warning clients about a big tornado season and a very hot dry summer similar to what we saw back in 2010,2011,2012. That is a pretty bold statement.

But if it does not happen, would I be accused of causing panic and inciting unrest?

Or how about this snowstorm, If you are a client or a subscriber, and even follow me on twitter, you know that from over a week away this storm was being set up. We have been setting this cold and snow up for our snow fighting, energy, retail companies for 2 weeks! On Thursday on Sean Hannitys show I forecasted 12-18 inches for around NYC Monday and Tuesday. Now when you see how many listeners Sean has, and the potential for people hearing what I said, to tell other people, basically I was telling 10-20 million people a crippling snowstorm was coming. As it is, everyone got on board at various times later and the storm is certainly living up to its billing. And NWS got on board. But what if it did not show up? Could I be accused of spreading public discord? Or inciting unrest?

It is unbelievable that a meteorologist or anyone should have to think about things like this, that you might be silenced if you are wrong. Market forces will silence you if you are wrong, if you believe in a free market. Why pay attention to bogus ideas? ( I wrote about this earlier). The best way to get rid of someone that is competing is to let them hang themselves by being wrong) It is hard enough to come up with a forecast that people will pay for given we have a massive public weather service that does a good job, media outlets and 1700 private weather services competing. But that is what freedom is about. What is scary is I have to think about someone in authority, that is there because of tax dollars, trying to shut down other opinions be it weather, climate or whatever…

Is this paranoia? I would have thought so with my wrestling friend back in 2006, but he turned out right. And another meteorologist bringing this up, because of what he sees out there, got me to thinking. I can’t believe this is what it has come to, especially in weather and climate.

So it comes down to this: I just can never be wrong. Which is a good thing if you are my client.

I do take comfort in this bible verse, “…. Perhaps you were made for such a time as this”

I suspect that may apply to some of you reading this as well.
