Netherlands rations electricity to ease power grid stresses as it shifts to ‘greener economy’ – ‘Early indicator of what other European countries are likely to suffer’ trying ‘to meet the bloc’s ambitious decarbonisation targets’

Financial Times – July 13, 2025: More than 11,900 businesses are waiting for electricity network connections, according to Netbeheer Nederland, the association of Dutch grid operators. On top of that are public buildings such as hospitals and fire stations as well as thousands of new houses.

Dutch officials and companies said lengthy waits for connections were holding up economic growth and could force businesses to rethink their investment plans. Despite efforts to invest in new cables and substations, new connections in some areas of the country will only become available in the mid-2030s, according to network operators.

Although the bottlenecks in the Netherlands are particularly acute, analysts say it is a harbinger of what is likely to occur in other EU countries, as the speed of electrification increases to meet the bloc’s ambitious decarbonisation targets. …

The Hague has also put out a “more conscious use of energy” advertising campaign across TV and social media that asks consumers to charge bikes and cars outside of the 4pm-to-9pm peak, when the grid comes under greatest strain. …

Eefje van Gorp, spokesperson for Tennet, said that other countries should beware. “Belgium is in trouble. The UK is in trouble. In Germany there’s lots of trouble because in Germany all the wind is in the north and the demand is in the south.”

In Canada, ‘saving’ land means that land once available to the citizens of the country, is transferred to the banks & funds of the elites’

For the sake of prosperity and the future, land and resources must be owned by the citizens of the nation, not traded as tokens on a block chain or bought by other sovereign countries. Since globalization kicked off, the opposite is true. Everywhere individual property rights have been weakened and in a weakened state turned over to banks, hedge funds, NGOs and ‘family offices’.

More than 10 percent of the developing world’s landmass has been placed under strict conservation—11.75 million square miles, more than the entire continent of Africa.

In the United States alone, hundreds of millions of acres—more than 30 percent of the nation’s land area—have been set aside in formally restricted zones, whether wilderness, forest reserve, or privately conserved land. According to Conservation Almanac, a website of the Trust for Public Land, as of 2005, 20 percent of the United States, or 473,653,970 million acres, had been placed under no-use or limited-use restrictions. As of 2010, the count is up to 700 million acres, one-third of the U.S. land base of 2.3 billion acres.

In Canada conserved or severely restricted lands are much more than 30 percent….Most of Canada’s land is owned by its government; in British Columbia, only 6 percent of the land is privately held, and only 1.9 percent of that is available for development. Ownership, for all intents and purposes, has been transferred out of Canadian hands.
