Watch: Morano on Fox & Friends at Clear-Cut30 in Brazil talking the clear-cut thousands of acres of Amazon rainforest for new 4-lane highway — Also: ‘Mr. President, TEAR UP THIS 1992 UN RIO TREATY’

Morano: "Our message here in Brazil to the Trump administration is simple: Get us out of this 1992 UN treaty, which was ratified by the Senate. If we can get the USA out of that, it makes it harder for a future President AOC or Gavin Newsom to get us back into this UN climate mess.

Mr. President, tear up that UN treaty from 1992. That's what we're we're we're imploring the Trump administration to do."

COP FLOP: Morano to Brazil for UN’s Clear-Cut30 Climate fest as 100k Amazon trees felled for summit – Gates Retreats from Alarmism

Selected transcript excerpts:

Charlie Hurt: The UN Climate Change Conference starts tomorrow near the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. But critics are calling this year’s event the Clear-Cut 30 after controversy over a brand new four-lane highway that required cutting down 100,000 Amazon rainforest trees for the conference. ClimateDepot.com executive editor Marc Morano is in Brazil for the summit, and he joins us now.

Great to see you this morning. Wow. You can’t lay out more clearly these people’s priorities than that right there.

Marc Morano: No, you can’t. In fact, the Brazilian environmental minister actually bragged that the reason they had to clear-cut tens of thousands of acres for this four-lane highway for this UN climate summit was so they could cram as many people here as possible to showcase to the world how Brazil has been saving the rainforest.

This has been amazing because the highway runs through the rainforest that they’ve been trying to save for decades.  ‘We’ve got to save the rainforest.’ We need trees for the climate. And here, they just cut it down so you could have all the limousines, SUVs, and private jets come in, and have people move freely at this UN summit — which is turning into a disaster here for them.

Charlie Hurt: Yeah. So, this is a conference that they do every year. And you said that this is the first time since this started back in 1992 that the United States is not involved, that you’re actually our US envoy, to which I’m very grateful, by the way, for that.

Marc Morano: But even a lot of European countries are pulling back from all of these climate goals.

Yeah. I call it the Trump Effect. Since George HW Bush signed the Rio Earth Summit Treaty — the United Nations Framework Convention — in 1992 to appear ‘green’ in order to try to beat Bill Clinton — it didn’t work — we’ve been in this mess, and this mess.

This is the first time there’s been no US delegation at a UN climate summit. God bless the Trump administration.

So I’ve self-declared myself the US delegation here at the UN conference in Brazil. I don’t think that job comes with any perks. We’ll see.

But this whole summit, as you mentioned, has seen over 100 nations fail even to submit their targets. There’s no interest in summit. Canada is zeroing out their carbon tax and throughout Europe, they’re walking away from net zero because reality has hit.

And our message here to the Trump administration is simple: Get us out of this 1992 UN treaty, which was ratified by the Senate. If we can get the USA out of that, it makes it harder for a future President AOC or Gavin Newsom to get us back into this UN climate mess.

Mr. President, tear up that UN treaty from 1992. That’s what we’re we’re we’re imploring the Trump administration to do.

Charlie Hurt: Well, I would just like to go on the record of saying that I trust you with the science more than I do a bunch of kleptocrats around the world who just want to be in control of every aspect of our lives. And speaking of all of that,, over the past, two years, Ford has lost some 13 billion dollars on,, this big EV scam. And there’s even talk, according to the Wall Street Journal, that they’re considering scrapping the F1 electric F-150. Is it Are you surprised that we’ve come to this?

Marc Morano: No. I mean, once you pull the plug on the EV subsidies, the gas-powered car bans, and on all the tax credits, it’s like we’re
watching an implosion. And the Ford CEO recently said he expects half of the of the EV sales to tank after the mandates have been pulled. Rivian is facing this.

Even with all those EV subsidies, even with banning the competition of gas-powered cars, they were only able to get fully electric cars to about 7% of sales, and it was going to decline. And a lot of that was people buying second cars, a very small market.

So, the idea that an F-150 truck was going to take America by storm was absurd, even under the Biden regulations. Once you pull the plug, it’s going under. And no, this is not a surprising move.

Plus, EV mandaets makes us rely on China, which, by the way, China is the hero here at this UN conference because, as the Trump administration walked away from these UN climate pledges, China’s doubling down on them. Even though China is building two coal plants a week, they’re now being praised by the Greens here at the UN. China is the new environmental hero here. But we don’t want these EVs anyway because right now, they empower China.

Charlie Hurt: We’re very relieved to have you as our carbon envoy there in Brazil, Marc Morano. Thank you so much for joining us this morning.

Marc Morano: Thank you, Charlie.

Background:

CLEAR-CUT 30: UN climate summit COP30 clear-cuts 100,000 Amazonian trees for highway — Meanwhile, Greenpeace claims nations need to attend COP30 to fight ‘the forest destroyers’ – ‘Our forests are on the brink’

CFACT’s Marc Morano added urgency to the call: “Withdrawing from the 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change would be the most significant step the Trump administration could take to shatter this 33-year climate stranglehold on America. No Republican president has ever dared attempt it. This would etch Trump’s agenda in stone — making Trump 2.0’s climate legacy truly permanent and a nightmare for any future President AOC or Gavin Newsom to reverse.”

The Trump administration needs to officially withdraw the U.S. from the 1992 Rio Earth Summit Treaty, signed by then-President George H.W. Bush and ratified by the U.S. Senate.

An analysis by Dr. Matthew M. Wielicki’s revealed:  “It was written into U.S. law when President George H. W. Bush signed the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) at the Rio Earth Summit on June 12, 1992, and the U.S. Senate gave its advice and consent on October 7, 1992. Bush then signed the instrument of ratification on October 13, 1992, making the U.S. the first industrialized nation to ratify the treaty.” …

The treaty explicitly provides a withdrawal mechanism: a country may notify the U.N. and, one year later, the exit takes effect. If the Paris executive pledge could be reversed, this Senate-ratified foundation can be lawfully revisited as well.”

And a potential U.S. withdrawal from the 1992 treaty is no idle threat to the entire global climate agenda. As POLITICO reported on May 14, 2025:

“During his first term, Trump declined to exit the UNFCCC, which the Democratic-led Senate had ratified during George H.W. Bush’s presidency following the “Earth Summit” in Rio de Janeiro.” …

“If Trump does pull the country out of the framework, it could be difficult for a new president to undo. Joining a treaty requires a two-thirds Senate vote — a high hurdle even in less polarized times…”
