Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger met top Republicans, including House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, and pushed them to do a better job of talking about about climate-change policy amid a summer of record-breaking heat waves and wildfires, according to people familiar with the matter.
The meeting, which took place Friday in McCarthy’s Washington office with more than a dozen Republican lawmakers, included discussion of messaging on the issue in a way that comports with conservative values, the people said.
