Jennifer Granholm Praises China
By Paul Homewood
I don’t believe even Jennifer Granholm can be this deluded:
U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm claimed Friday that Americans can “learn from what China is doing” in combating climate change.
During an interview at the annual SXSW conference in Austin, Texas, Granholm sang the praises of China for its efforts to reduce climate change, claiming the country is actually “very sensitive” about the issue, more so than the United States.
Granholm made these claims despite the fact that China recently hit its coal-production record last year. …
She then praised China’s climate change efforts, saying, “But, I think China has done — has been very sensitive, and has actually invested a lot in their solutions, to achieve their goals.”
Granholm added, “So we’re — we’re hopeful that, you know, we can all learn from what China is doing.”
The secretary also noted, “the amount of money that they’re investing in clean energy is actually, you know, encouraging.”

Paul Homewood comments:
Granholm is Energy Secretary in arguably one of the worst Administrations in US history. Like most of Biden’s cabinet, she is utterly unfit for her job. But even she must surely be aware of the actual data, which shows that the contribution of wind and solar in China is tiny, and has been swamped by the increase in fossil fuel consumption in recent years.

So why is she spouting such nonsense?
It is a sad fact that the Biden administration has been sucking up to China for the last two years. Biden himself, John Kerry, Anthony Blinken and others all seem afraid to say anything critical about the country, whether about climate change, the Uighers, Taiwan or spy balloons.
And China will carry on treating them all like the fools they are.

China goes for cheap coal to beat green West
(Reuters) – China’s state planner underlined a greater role for coal in its power supply on Sunday, saying the fossil fuel would be used to improve the reliability and security of its energy system.
China’s energy demand has skyrocketed in recent decades, and most of this has been met by coal…Though China’s coal use has increased in absolute terms, as a proportion of its energy mix, it has slightly diminished.
China consumes over 4 billion tons of coal a year, most of it domestically mined with imports making up less than a tenth of its needs. In 2021 its reserves stood at around 208 billion tons, 28% more than the prior year’s level, while the outlay on exploration rose 10% to 1.3 billion yuan ($184 million), according to the ministry.

Don’t believe the lie that China is pursuing “net zero.”
China is in the process of building *more new coal capacity* than *all existing US coal plants combined*.
These plants are designed to last 40+ years.
