Several feet of snow have already fallen in the Sierra Nevada, with several more feet on the way. One ski area, Squaw Alpine, has recorded 4.5 feet (137 cm) of snow, according to its Twitter account. That breaks the record for total snowfall sitting on the ground, on any day of the year, in any year.
