Gore preaches climate urgency at seminary: Allowing global warming is ‘Heaping contempt upon God’s creation’

Former Vice President Al Gore spoke in New York City to the Union Theological Seminary in advance of the People’s Climate March.

“There is a confusion between dominion and domination,” Gore told the seminary on September 18, 2014 on the eve of the People’s Climate March in New York City. Gore addressed the Interfaith Leaders Climate March Breakfast which included clergy from across New York City.

Gore preached about his views on how we should treat the Earth based on Biblical concepts. “Being given dominion does not mean that we have been given a license to exploit for the purposes of satisfying our own green passions or desires without respecting the integrity of God’s creation,” Gore said.

He called the climate change issue an “unprecedented assault’ upon the Earth.

“If the purpose of life is to glorify God in the way we live our life. It is inconsistent with that mandate and purpose to heap contempt on God’s creation,” Gore said.

“There is a conversation about climate that has to be won,” he added.

Gore denied that he and his fellow environmental activists are “worshiping” the Earth.

“There is not a worship of the Earth. There is a love of the Earth because the Earth is the lords,” Gore explained.

He urged the debate to “dissolve into a simple choice of what is wrong or what is right” and he rejected skeptical arguments about global warming as merely “false doubts.”

“We now face an issue of environmental justice on a global scale,” Gore said.

Gore warned of more snow due to global warming.

“If it is season of snow, there is much more snow, you know about Snowmageddon here in New York City,” Gore explained, claiming that global warming was increasing storms.

Gore ended his speech sounding a doomsday climate prophecy and warned: “There will be a day of reckoning and years from now. The next generation will have an opportunity, depending on the circumstances upon which they find themselves to look back and ask one of two questions.

“If they find themselves in a world of despair with even stronger storms, and mudlslides and deeper droughts and shortages of food and failing political systems and climate refugees and if they live in a world where they look at their children and feel there circumstances are bound to worsen even beyond what we are now enduring. They would be justified in looking back through time and asking of us: ‘What were you thinking? Why did you not act!?’” Gore screamed to applause.

He continued: “The second question is the one they will ask if we do what is right. How did you find the moral courage to rise up and shake up the distraction and find the moral courage to do what it right.”

  • Arguing that god put all those carbon resources there just as sort of a cosmic “look but don’t touch” cosmic joke like apple trees is certainly not the traditional christian canon .

Charlatan Gore will continue to succeed in selling his snake oil because there is an endless supply of stupid, uninformed people. Gore has even taken to referring to the Bible and to God to make his case, both of which Gore holds in contempt.

Of course Gore isn’t worshipping the earth. He’s worshipping his ego and wallett. But at least he has his Malibu beach house. LOL.

  • Fetuses are the Lord’s as well. But former seminarian Gore long ago crossed that bridge in favour of abortion.

  • When I lived in NYC , the Manhattan Libertarians , motivated by Jim Lesczynski , put out a street corner tabloid named SerfCity . I wrote a number of Logic of Liberty columns for it . One was on “The War on CO2” , http://cosy.com/Liberty/y2007/LogicOfLibertyGlobalTemperature.htm . I made the following comments on a then recent Senate hearing :

About an hour into the senate hearing, Al invited leading senate skeptic James Inhofe out to breakfast with their mutual friend Doug Coe so Jim would also become convinced of the crisis. I figured Doug Coe must be some particularly persuasive scientist so I googled him.

    He’s an christian evangelist !

About an hour fifty-five into the hearing Gore goes off into an absolute religious nutcase harangue about desecrating the Lord’s creation literally invoking the flood and drought , pestilence, fire and famine of the hebrew’s god.

Math and physics are my gods, but if you believe in an intelligent designer, why did (s)he place the incredible deposits of coal and oil in our earth if not for our use? Some sort of cosmic joke? Another “look but don’t touch” – even if contributing to the death of millions as Castro recently rightly pointed out – tree of knowledge ?

    • “Some sort of cosmic joke? ”

On the contrary. Placed there for our discovery, responsible use and enjoyment. I thank God for Big Oil.

It looks like the theologian Al Gore needs to do a little brushing up on the doctrine of divine providence. Perhaps he ought to stay in hotels which still keep a copy of the Bible in the nightstand. Then he wouldn’t have to spend his hard-earned money purchasing one (for the first time, probably).

I really hope Algore is still pushing his global scam. If he is, then he is a really good scam artist who is still trying to do the con that is slowly dying after making him hundreds of millions of dollars. If not, then he is a severe nut case. Either way, isn’t everyone very glad he was never president?

Just take the clause beginning with “and if they live in a world….” and I would say that voting for Leftists will bring about Gore’s doomsday scenario way more than any climate change we are likely to see.

As a pastor and Bible College lecturer, it is certain that Union Theological jumped the shark on orthodoxy will over 100 years ago and today more resembles a cemetery rather than a seminary. It is filled with dead men’s bones spiritually speaking. They haven’t done real theology there in over a couple generations now. In its place have come radical feminism, Marxism, Queer theology, and Liberation Theology, but not genuine theology. That they would let a bone head like Gore speak there speaks volumes. The truth is Gore wouldn’t know the difference between Jesus and Jesse James.

I believe that in the Bible God gave man dominion over the Earth…so, if you believe that stuff it’s up to us to do with it as we please.

Now…it could be argued, as Al Gore did when he was illegally soliciting campaign contributions from the White House that “there is no controlling legal authority” meaning there is no legal ruling on that dominion thing….but I’ll accept it as written in Genesis and assume dominion means we can take care of the Earth as we see fit.

BTW – Arctic ice is way up this year. Didn’t Gore say it would be totally gone by now according to one study? Nope…millions of square kilometers of it.

How ironic. The genius failed out of divinity school and was denied admission to law school despite having a Senator for a father.

  • Juan767

There is a god! If the climate was warming while they were trying to sell this fraud they may have been successful .
However politicians plan and God laughs, laughs out loud in this case. Approaching 20years of no warming, priceless!
