Lee Zeldin defends ‘controversial’ record as head of EPA at Heartland Institute Climate Conference

EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin on April 8, 2026 was the opening keynote speaker at the 16th International Conference on Climate Change in Washington, DC. He said climate “realism” is “rising, which is what the American people voted for in 2024.

Zeldin touted his record as EPA Administrator, stopping the “grift” of public money by environmental NGOs, the repealing of the Endangerment Finding for carbon dioxide, and debunked the idea that it was “controversial” for him to speak at this conference and implement the policies he has enacted in the just 14 months (so far) of the second Trump administration.
