Marc Morano: There are several key reasons why Gates is saying it now. However, before I mention that, I want to note that Bill Gates has canceled the climate catastrophe. He is facing massive blowback from his fellow climate activists. Michael Man, from University of Pennsylvania, is very upset with Gates and Gates has turned against all the delegates coming up at this UN climate summit in Brazil.
And the reasons are very simple.
First, you had decades of false promises, fake deadlines, tipping points — Florida will be underwater. The Arctic will be ice-free. And claims that solar and wind are cheaper and are about to take over from fossil fuels. All of these were lies. Europeans realize it now. In Canada, even though their prime ministers, a World Economic Forum leader, has zeroed out the carbon tax in Canada. So, Bill Gates is reading the room.
The second reason is this Trump Effect. Trump has decimated the climate movement. In the first 100 days, he took 100 actions that decimated the entire climate agenda, and there has been no real pushback to that. Bill Gates reads the room. The CNN pollster said Americans are no more afraid of climate than they were in the 1980s. That’s how much progress was made, despite all the climate nonsense that Bill Gates pushed.
And the key reason is AI. That’s why he’s shifting his climate position. He’s trying to get in good with the Trump administration. AI data centers need energy and power — they need fossil fuels. Larry Fink of BlackRock actually said solar and wind can’t power AI.
Gates needs massive amounts of energy, and massive amounts of energy are completely contrary to the climate agenda.
This is a very unbelievable transition because Bill Gates knew in the year 2000 that the climate agenda was complete bleep. He knew in 2010 it was nonsense. He knew in 2020 it was nonsense, but only in 2025 is he willing to tell the truth. And the reason is Gates needs connections. He needs energy. And he’s got his eyes on a different prize — AI.
It’s like RFK Jr. said: the more money Bill Gates gives away in his version of philanthro-Capitalism, the wealthier he becomes. Gates is a master manipulator behind the scenes.
