One might think that blaming the Clinton Administration is an oversimplification — its not. The People’s Republic of China (PRC) is cutting off exports of rare earth materials to the U.S. at a time when we need them most. Rare Earth elements are not only essential to the high-tech consumer products industry in the U.S. but also to our weapons systems that cannot function without rare earth metals.
What most people do not realize is that the U.S. used to supply not only America’s rare earths, but 82 percent of the rest of the world as well. So, why are we reliant on communist China for such a critical element that we used to produce domestically? In 1998 I was chief correspondent for the television show, American Investigator Magazine, my team and I produced a documentary on this subject, while the Clinton Administration was in the process of shutting down America’s source of rare earths.
