Bastardi: Evidence of underwater geothermal input: ‘More proof that CO2 does not have a darn thing to do with the warming of the oceans’

By Joe Bastardi

There has been a sudden unforecasted warming of Sea Surface temperatures to the west of South America. This is more proof that CO2 does not have a darn thing to do with the warming of the oceans.  It could not have caused this, But dear reader, I have to deal with this stuff all the time, and there is huge denial in the science community that a lot of the warming the last 35 years is due to this. So much so that I feel I am on an island ( with a couple of other castaways, most notably Dr Arthur Viterito, who, when I see this stuff go off, tries to get the data.  The idea I advocate for is we take on a Scientific Marshall plan to saturate the ocean floor with data buoys to see what is going on.

It is negligence and ignorance to me that we do not, a wizard of Oz, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain approach.  Maybe there was nothing there, but to assume it, in such a vast expanse of the ocean, sounds kind of arrogant.

In any case, feast your eyes on this:

The Euro Jan forecast for April in enso 1.2 off South America.  At that time, it had no idea that there had been a marked increase in activity underwater, and only until the current data network, which is woefully underdone and late to the party, saw it did it “flip”

Feb for April it still did not see it.  Remember, this is supposed to be a La Nina

Then something happened because it suddenly flipped in March

and the actual result looks like this now

The CFSV2 in Jan had it near -.5C for April

Instead, if shot up.

Where did it come from? I suspect the Wolf volcanoes, which reportedly helped amplify the 15-16 Super El Nino event, may have gone off to some degree, and we have no idea that it could be the case until after it happens. Climate models are not supposed to bust like that on SSTs over such a short period unless something is going on they do not know about. In this case, the observation ( and after having seen this now dozens of times over the years) points the finger at sudden input from nonatmospheric sources. Looking at the increase observed in December, one has to wonder of the Wolf was again on the prowl.

So there is a lag. and then it hits. And if the model does not see it, guess what happens?

So laying all this out, I went to the source, Dr Arthur Viterito

His answer

YES…..YOU’RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!! THERE HAS BEEN A TON OF SEISMIC ACTIVITY IN THIS REGEION RECENTLY!!! This is a tectonically active area with numerous hydrothermal vents. Here is the description in Google’s AI Overview:

Hydrothermal vents, particularly in the context of the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean (including areas near Panama), are naturally forming structures that expel geothermally heated seawater from cracks in the seafloor, supporting unique ecosystems and chemosynthetic life.

Location Near Panama:

The Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean, including areas near Panama, is a region with active hydrothermal vent activity. Scientists have recently discovered five new hydrothermal vents in the Eastern Tropical Pacific Ocean.

I’ve attached a PowerPoint table showing the seismic activity recorded in just the past 30 days.

This is a classic case of an oceanic “blob” that Wyss Yim talks about. These pop up all over the place and are very prominent all along the Pacific Ring of Fire, especially off the west coasts of the Americas and the east coast of Asia.

But here is the fact. Probably, not even one major climate researcher knows about this bust.    They are not forecasting the weather where a model bust like that has implications. For instance, suppose this continues well into the hurricane season.  A warm Enso 1.2 has implications. If it is just showing up out of nowhere, and models can’t see it, is anyone even watching and saying, how the heck did that happen?

Well, when you are forecasting every day, you are.  And when you hear things being dismissed that you have been watching go on the past 35 years and only in the last 5 or so started seeing information that while out there, is dismissed, you start wondering.

Am I right? I don’t know.  As my detractors say, I don’t have enough data.  Well, they don’t have enough to say it isn’t, and if they were watching and saw this stuff go off like this, maybe they would open their minds up a bit. One thing I will tell you is this. That warming even when it goes away, still adds to the overall ocean temps,  Continued short term warm blobs like this have a cumulative buildup,  And one thing I think most skeptics can agree on, even if they don’t like me shooting my mouth off about this, is  THAT IT IS DARN SURE NOT CO2.

So that we can agree on
