Phasing out fossil fuels is an ‘insane goal’: Marc Morano -Climate Depot executive editor Marc Morano discusses worldwide calls to phase out fossil fuels and Al Gore blaming the mental health crisis on climate change.
Stuart Varney: Climate guy Marc Morano joins me now, the media is hailing this COP 28 as a huge win because fossil fuels were mentioned in the final communique. I think the meeting was a failure. What do you say?
Marc Morano: Well, it depends on how you look at it on what scale? I think it’s a failure in the sense that they wanted a complete phase-out agreed to of all fossil fuels. But as we know, Saudi Arabia was not into that the COP 28 President Al Jabbar was not going to be part of that. Of course, China was pushing for this, China wanted the rest of the world to get more and more renewables, so the rest of the world could be more and more reliant — on China.
But ultimately, COP 28 failed to get their bumper sticker slogan on fossil fuels. So instead, their new slogan is this is the ‘beginning of the end’ of fossil fuels.
But here’s the thing: If you look at this on any timescale, this is an insane goal. It’s an insane meeting. Net Zero is nothing short of Soviet-style central planning that will have no good for humanity.
100 years ago, 80% of global and US energy came from fossil fuels. Today, 80% of global and US energy comes from fossil fuels. For them to come out with these targets in 2030 — a tripling of renewable energy — it’s just not realistic.
And I think it’s time we change the narrative. We have to say ‘HELL NO’ to this whole idea of Net Zero. This has to be stopped. But, unfortunately, everyone’s doubling down.
Varney: Al Gore blames the mental health crisis on climate change.

Varney: Marc, have at it. What do you think to that?
Morano: Gore’s right, to the extent that young people are worried about climate, there’s actual reports of kids getting psychiatric counseling. We have a young kids 18 young kids, some as young as eight years old, in a lawsuit against the EPA for violating their right to life and ‘ordered liberty’ and they’re saying kids now can’t do their homework during the day. They have to wait for the evening and it cools off because they can’t focus on school.
To the extent that there’s a psychological problem. It’s called climate indoctrination from kindergarten through college. That’s how young people are being indoctrinated with baseless fears that the earth is going to end unless the United Nations comes up with some meaningless document that says they’re going to save the Earth.
This is modern witchcraft. And Al Gore is promoting the idea and scaring even more kids and people like Greta Thornburg, who actually said Why go to school when we have no future? So that’s the problem, it is that baseless fear has caused the psychological issues, not the climate
