CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite: “A House subcommittee, not without fallout, concluded today that Three Mile Island was a serious accident but not a serious threat to human health. The energy subcommittee of the House Committee on Science and Technology called nuclear power generation the safest major industry on earth. The report criticized much of the media for alarming what it called an ill-informed an easily frightened public. But two members of the panel said the report in blaming the public offered a classic example of blaming the victim.
