Conclusion: Many children are subject to great challenges and families try to master these as best they can. While the proportion of people tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 and also the number of intensive care patients in Germany is high in many places, we report here on a relatively small, unrepresentative problem: several thousand children who seem to suffer from wearing the mask or who may experience health problems from the mask. Our study provides the basis for a representative survey on which a precise benefit-risk analysis of mask wearing in children can be built.
We do not need to research something that we know has no benefit & clearly causing harm on children. Children are being harmed and it is our duty as adults & healthcare professionals in particular to protect them.

UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell gives his thoughts on being âforcedâ wearing a mask
In the post-fight interview, âThug Nastyâ mentioned an incident where he was passing by a school and saw children playing with masks on. When one of the children pulled down his mask to breathe the teacher reprimanded him for the same. Mitchell said that this made him, âSickâ.
âThis is the only time that I have a platform to say something and Iâve had something on my mind,â he began telling reporters. âItâs affected me and a lot of people that I love and Iâm going to take a lot of criticism for saying what Iâm about to say but Iâm going to say it anyways because I feel it needs to be said.â
âI was driving by an elementary school the other day and I seen all these kids outside. Theyâre trying to play on the playground. Theyâre trying to run around. Theyâre trying to swing on the monkey bars, go down the slide and wrestle and play tag and they all got masks on. And I see them out there, some of them are taking their masks off so they can breath fresh air ⊠and that makes me sick that these kids canât get fresh air and theyâre eight hours a day, theyâre sitting six feet apart from each other and they canât breath fresh air and I donât agree with that.â
âThereâs going to be a lot of criticism and a lot of people attacking me for saying that and theyâre going to say Iâm a dumb MMA fighter and I got no sense sharing my opinion but you know what? I pay my taxes. So youâre going to tell me you can take that money out of my pocket, tens of thousands of dollars out of my pocket that I fought for, and youâre gonna take it out my pocket and then discredit my opinions and say I donât have an opinion? No, I do have an opinion and it does matter.â

Mitchell then explained his opinion on wearing a mask. He said, âI just want to tell Asa Hutchinson, I think he needs to have a little bit of backbone⊠there was no vote that said we want our kids in masks, our businesses shut down, our restaurants at half capacity, gyms at half capacity⊠And I donât know who he thinks he is telling us that we have to shut down our businesses.â
âThug Nastyâ continued, âIâm just asking to get our freedom back. I donât think that is much to ask for. What Iâm saying is make the mask optionalâŠ.. Why tell somebody they have to wear a mask?âŠ.. Taking away our liberties and taking away freedoms without a vote I donâ think that is the right answerâŠ. Thereâs going to be a lot of people attacking me for what I saidâŠ. You know what I pay my taxes.â
The state of Arkansas has made it mandatory to wear face coverings in public. Governor Asa Hutchinson issued an executive order regarding the same in July when the cases of coronavirus were on the rise.
The rules also mandate that restaurants and gyms have to operate at 50% capacity as mentioned by âThug Nastyâ which he does not agree with.Â

Study: Elastic of Surgical Face Masks Could Stimulate Ear Protrusion in Children – Elastic loops ’cause constant compression on the skin…children have undeveloped auricular cartilage with less resistance to deformation’ – Published 2020 in PubMed.gov – The National Center for Biotechnology Information
“Among those on the market, surgical masks with elastic loops are the ones most chosen by parents for their children. These elastics cause constant compression on the skin and, consequently, on the cartilage of the auricle, leading to erythematous and painful lesions of the retroauricular skin when the masks are used for many hours a day. Pre-adolescent children have undeveloped auricular cartilage with less resistance to deformation; prolonged pressure from the elastic loops of the mask at the hollow or, even worse, at the anthelix level can influence the correct growth and angulation of the outer ear.”

Abstract
In this period of the Covid-19 pandemic, a protective mask has become a common object of use to contain virus transmission. The imminent need for masks has led many governments to produce them, including surgical masks with elastic loops or masks with side cuts at the ears. Among those on the market, surgical masks with elastic loops are the ones most chosen by parents for their children. These elastics cause constant compression on the skin and, consequently, on the cartilage of the auricle, leading to erythematous and painful lesions of the retroauricular skin when the masks are used for many hours a day. Pre-adolescent children have undeveloped auricular cartilage with less resistance to deformation; prolonged pressure from the elastic loops of the mask at the hollow or, even worse, at the anthelix level can influence the correct growth and angulation of the outer ear. In fact, unlike when using conservative methods for the treatment of protruding ears, this prolonged pressure can increase the cephaloauricular angle of the outer auricle. It is important for the authorities supplying the masks to be aware of this potential risk and for alternative solutions to be found while maintaining the possibility of legitimate prevention of the potential spread of the virus.Level of Evidence V This journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article.
