Biden-Sanders ‘unity task force’ includes role for AOC

Joe Biden has announced a controversial freshman congresswoman will help lead a “task force” on climate change in the coming months.
Biden announced this week that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would help lead one of the new “unity task forces” along with a second lawmaker, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, The Washington Free Beacon reported.
The “unity” effort, the Free Beacon reported, comes after Biden worked with Sen. Bernie Sanders and his campaign to create “joint task forces” to address climate change, immigration, health care, education, criminal justice, and the economy.
Biden’s selection of Ocasio-Cortez is viewed by some as an attempt to woo young voters, and environmentally conscious voters, after the leftist lawmaker pushed the anti-fossil fuel Green New Deal last year.
Biden is possibly appeasing Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez to woo communists and socialists, too, since Sanders is a self-described socialist and Ocasio-Cortez won election as a “Justice Democrat” who has openly backed far-left candidates over less-liberal incumbent Democrats.
“It’s frightening that AOC would be in charge of the Democratic Party’s climate task force,” responds Marc Morano, a skeptic of man-made climate change. “What this means is Joe Biden is all in on the Green New Deal.”
AOC and other far-left Democrats proudly introduced the Green New Deal last year only to witness their own party run from a Senate resolution in a procedural vote offered by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
In 2019, the American Action Forum, led by former CBO Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin, said the Green New Deal would cost $93 trillion.
Responding to online criticism this week over the cost of the Green New Deal, Ocasio-Cortez replied that the it “costs us $0 if passed.”
She also called the Senate vote on the Green New Deal a “non-binding resolution of values.”
