TORONTO (AP) (LINK) — Maurice Strong, whose work helped lead to the landmark climate summit that begins in Paris on Monday, has died at age 86, the head of the U.N.’s environmental agency said Saturday.

The Canadian-born Strong, the first U.N. Environment Program chief, organized the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, which led to the launch of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Strong’s Energy Fortune

Strong made his fortune in the oil and energy business running companies such as Petro Canada, Power Corporation, CalTex Africa, Hydro Canada, the Colorado Land and Cattle Company, Ajax Petroleum, Canadian Industrial Oil and Gas— to name just a few.

Christiana Figueres, the current head of the U.N. climate agency, tweeted Saturday that “we thank Maurice Strong for his visionary impetus to our understanding of sustainability. We will miss you.”
This is the same Christiana Figueres who sent out a press release in February saying that the environmental movement was not about the environment but it was to destroy capitalism, (LINK)

IT WAS EVER THUS.

Before setting up the structure for the hoax, Maurice Strong spoke re the Club of Rome:

What if a small group of these world leaders were to conclude the principal risk to the Earth comes from the actions of the rich countries? …..

In order to save the planet, the group decides: Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrial civilizations collapse. Isn’t it our responsibility to bring this about? (LINK)

And again to National Revue Magazine 1/9/97

Frankly, we may get to the point where the only way of saving the world will be for industrial civilization to collapse.

The same Maurice Strong has been hiding in China (with all their genuine pollution) to avoid being arrested in connection with the UN’s ‘Oil for Food’ program.  He is suspected of taking bribes during that period.

More From John Izzard

Strong was the driving force behind the idea of world governance by the United Nations when he dreamt up a world tax on monetary transactions of 0.5% which would have given theUN an annual income of $1.5 trillion. About equal then to the income of the USA.

The stumbling block was the Security Council, and their power of veto. He devised a plan to get rid of the Security Council but failed to get it implemented. Then came along the idea that global warming might just be the device to get his World Governance proposal up and running.

Food for Oil

Investigations into the UN’s Oil-for-Food-Program found that Strong had endorsed a cheque for $988,885 made out to M. Strong — issued by a Jordanian bank. The man who gave the cheque, South Korean business man Tongsun Park was convicted in 2006 in a US Federal court of conspiring to bribe UN officials. Strong resigned and fled to Canada and thence to China where he has been living ever since.
