President Obama has not stood up for 'bold action' on global warming because he recognizes that it is political suicide to do so. The new political expediency in Washington is global warming skepticism. Those of us who laugh at Gore's mythical 'climate crisis' tip our hat to Obama for not pushing very hard for the Congressional Climate Bill and for being so tepid at UN climate conferences. Of course Obama is still threatening to unleash the EPA to regulate that harmless trace essential gas we exhale from our mouth – CO2 – but he will most likely wait until after the next election.
As for Gore and the UN's scientific claims, it has been quite a joy to watch the entire man-made global warming fear movement disintegrate before our eyes. A movement that had Al Gore – one of the most divisive political figures -– as the face of the movement, was bound to fail. A movement that utilized the scandal ridden United Nations – which is massively distrusted by the American people -- as the repository of science, was doomed to fail.
The scientific reality is that from A-Z, the scientific case for man-made climate fears has collapsed. The Arctic has rebounded in recent years, the Antarctic sea ice extent has been at or near record extent in past few summers, polar bears appear to be thriving, sea level is not showing acceleration and may be dropping, Mount Kilimanjaro melt fears are being made a mockery by gains in snow cover, global temperatures have been holding steady for a decade or more, scandals continue to rock the climate fear movement and scientists continue to dissent at a rapid pace. Poor Al Gore, he has been reduced to criticizing his own party's president for failing to act to stop “climate change.”
Never mind that environmentalists like Frank O'Donnell rightly point out that Gore himself failed to make global warming a key issue when he ran for President in 2000. Gore's scientific claims are now reduced to pointing to every weather event as some sort of 'proof' of man-made climate change. Gore's alleged 'science' is in reality, more akin to the predictions of the Mayan Calendar or Nostradamus. It is refreshing to witness man-made global warming fears enter the dustbin of history where they belong.
