Greenpeace Co-Founder Dr. Patrick Moore: ‘I fear a global cooling’ – Rips Obama for ‘hollow’ climate claims

[Note: New documentary is on the way: ‘Climate Hustle’ — Watch Trailer Now]

Ecologist Dr. Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, warned “I fear a global cooling,” during his keynote address to the Ninth International Conference on Climate Change in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Moore, who left Greenpeace in 1986 because he felt it had become too radical, is the author of “Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist.” (Watch climate conference live here)

Moore noted that a cooling would adversely impact agriculture, and said:  “Let’s hope for a little warming as opposed to a little cooling. I would rather it got a little warmer.” (Watch Moore video here at the Heartland Institute event)

Moore noted that “the U.S. is currently been cooling” and noted that there has been “no global warming for nearly 18 years.” He also mocked the notion that “everything is due to global warming.”

“If it warms two degrees, hopefully more in Canada in the North…maybe it would be a good thing if it did,” Moore explained.

Moore noted that carbon dioxide is a trace essential gas in the atmosphere and is not the control knob of the Earth’s climate.

“CO2 is the most important nutrient for all life on earth,” he noted.

“There are so many [climate] variables that we can’t control and when you do an experiment you have to control all the variables except the one you are studying if you want to get a clean result. There are even variables we do not even understand that we cannot control,” he said.

“So it is virtually impossible to think of doing an experiment where we would be able to tweeze out the impact of CO2 versus the hundreds of other variables at work. Which is why you could never make a model that would predict the climate,” he added.

Moore also took criticized President Barack Obama.

“The President seems to say it is sufficient to say the ‘science is settled’. It is hollow statement with no content,” Moore noted.

He also warned that the education system was failing children when it comes to climate change science.

“Change the way our kids are being taught about this subject because if we don’t there will be a whole generation of people who are just blindly following this climate hysteria,” Moore said.

“Our children are not taught logic, they are not taught what the scientific method is, and they are taught that carbon dioxide is pollution. They are told it is carbon now as if it were soot,” he added.

Other Moore Quotes via New American:

Dr. Patrick Moore, a pioneer environmental activist and co-founder of Greenpeace. Dr. Moore, who led some of Greenpeace’s most famous direct action campaigns against whaling and seal hunts, is the author of Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout: The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist. Moore told the conference he left Greenpeace when it “went anti-human.” Greenpeace, as well as much of the rest of the radical environmental establishment, he notes, regard humans not as part of the environment, but as enemies of the environment. Greenpeace claims to be for “renewables,” Moore pointed out, “but it is against the two best renewables: hydropower and trees.”

“We should be growing more trees and using more wood,” says Moore, but the global warming alarmists refer to the forests as “carbon stocks” that must not be used. The Greenpeace elites would deny billions of poor people access to energy, Moore notes, while at the same time living lavishly, by comparison. Greenpeace hypocritically boasts of the “super-efficient electric motors” on its new $22 million yacht, says More, but doesn’t mention that the boat is also powered by diesel engines that, of course, use the dreaded “fossil fuels” Greenpeace wants to deny to others.

Greenpeace Co-Founder Tells U.S. Senate: Earth’s Geologic History ‘fundamentally contradicts’ CO2 Climate Fears: ‘We had both higher temps and an ice age at a time when CO2 emissions were 10 times higher than they are today’ (Feb. 25, 2014)

Watch full senate hearing here.

Selected Highlights of Dr. Patrick Moore’s Feb. 25, 2014 testimony before the U.S. Senate Environment & Public Works Committee:

‘There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years.’ – ‘Today, we live in an unusually cold period in the history of life on earth and there is no reason to believe that a warmer climate would be anything but beneficial for humans and the majority of other species…It is “extremely likely” that a warmer temperature than today’s would be far better than a cooler one.’

Earth’s Geologic History Fails CO2 Fears: ‘The fact that we had both higher temperatures and an ice age at a time when CO2 emissions were 10 times higher than they are today fundamentally contradicts the certainty that human-caused CO2 emissions are the main cause of global warming…When modern life evolved over 500 million years ago, CO2 was more than 10 times higher than today, yet life flourished at this time. Then an Ice Age occurred 450 million years ago when CO2 was 10 times higher than today.’

Progressives started this hysteria over everything they want a hundred years ago and keep it up because the public always responds and demands “something be done.” That is what ozero is waiting for with his border disaster. But this time the left maybe went one crisis too far. No one wants to do anything for these diseased and unwanted “children,” many of whom are grown men and outright criminals.

A loose affiliation of like minded Americans who vow to refuse to comply with laws that violate the second amendment right to keep (own) and bear (carry) firearms. The name “3 percenter” comes from the fact that only 3 percent of colonial British subjects took up arms against the King during the revolutionary war. Three percent of the population was enough to overthrow a government and win independence.

They are not trying to control climate; they are in the business of controlling people. At it’s root, the climate change ideology is about eugenics-if we spend a significant portion of the global GDP enriching governments and their climate change cronies, where is the money to feed the third world going to come from? Nowhere; they will starve, and by design. The tree-hugging hippies are simply useful idiots (again).

True the media is heavily biased against the full debate that is really ongoing in the scientific literature. Many studies are not written which come to the AGW conclusion. Mass media isn’t smart enough to understand that, but the US population is smarter than the media. A recent Rasmussen poll providing evidence that US voters aren’ as brainwashed as some think. The kids are because of public school though.

The Left is not the least bit interested in curbing CO2 emissions. Their entire strategy is to implement a world wide carbon tax, which means only two things, more taxes for you and more revenue for the masters of the universe.

Thankfully they can’t ban the internet & word of mouth. The truth can be found by anyone seeking it. The “global warming / climate change” movement is so obviously an attempt at a monumental power grab by government based on the flimsiest of evidence…you don’t have to be a climatologist to call this one out. A little research reveals time and again just how phony this scam is.

Thank you Dr. Moore and all the other knowledgeable people around the world who have revealed this thing as b.s. science.

fidobite – you are absolutely correct. However, the problem with your observation is that those on the left don’t do their own research (save the argument about even being able to read for another post) and those on the right seem to be petrified and unable to do anything about them. There are NO leaders on the right to challenge the lefts regime. I no longer refer to them as an administration – they are an outright regime hellbent on destroying this once beautiful country. The Brits are no better – shaking in their boots. I feel helpless – I always vote for conservatives that I hope will challenge his dumbassness but too many conservatives have given up and stay at home on voting day. Sad, scary and all I have left to do is shake my head and weep. What have we left our children?

A glimpse of hope and change, only the hope is turning into despair. The change is becoming more clear with each passing day. Will we understand what “change” really means for this country before it’s too late? I’m guessing “too late” will come first. When our once-prosperous republic becomes an impoverished socialist welfare state with limited freedom, we’ll be scratching our butts wondering how such a thing could possibly happen? Well, conservatives like me will know exactly how it happened. We’ve been warning the public about this for decades about this shift to the left and the ears have been getting deafer. And that’s putting it succinctly!

If the government wants to reward you for something that benefits all, we’re good. When they come to steal your money, tax you, or rob you (e.g. cap & trade), you know it’s coming from a dark, evil, greedy place. Maybe that’s a generalization, but I think you get the point.

All of their solutions are designed to tax businesses, which in return these businesses will be forced to charge us more for their products. …. Greenpeace’s entire goal is to make themselves the middle man between energy companies and us, the consumers.

Government on the other hand, steals our tax money and hands it over to “scientist” so they can study global warming and report back what the government wants to hear….. the idea for this paid propaganda is to change that only 20% of Americans who believe in global warming… They are looking to change the tide on those beliefs so they can levy a carbon tax on us. If they tried that today, they would be run out on a rail…. But if they purchase enough propaganda from “scientist” with grant money over time, to the point where that poll reads 51% are now believers in global warming, it would be much easier to levy that tax on us.

Carbon credits? Its a tax on businesses, but how is buying virtual credits going to save the planet? If company A pollutes less and buys a carbon credit, a counterpart in China or India will pollute more to make the money company A can’t do anymore because of carbon regulations. So what is the net gain for the environment here?

It has nothing to do with hot air, cold air or anything else. It is just a scheme for massive new taxes that not one politician will ever have to pay. Twenty years ago Walter Mondale was heard whispering into Ted Kennedy’s ear while looking out over the enthusiastic crowd at a dem convention, “Little do they know we’re going to tax their a$$es off”.

Moore makes a lot of valid points but too many people think he is too controversial. For the sake of civility, why can’t the majority just agree to continue to reduce all pollution (water, air, land) and continuously strive for efficiency in every thing we do. I believe myself to be a conservative (registered NPP- no political party in California) and do not believe in “wasting” resources. I recently got a small SUV which gets 27 MPG and would have gladly paid $3,000 more for a similar model that got 50 MPG. I just like saving money (another conservative idea) and would pay for that. I put solar panels on my roof primarily because it saves me $500 per month in electrical costs. What more reason do I need. I have planted lots of trees around my home because they make my house more comfortable, more attractive, and increase my property value. Every one of these things that I mentioned above reduces carbon even though that was not my primary intent.

It’s also about dialing for dollars. Just spreading the gospel on global warming is a $14 billion per year industry. e.g. Al Gore has made over a $100 million. Adding in a bunch of other government grants and subsidies for projects, it’s close to $50 billion per year.

Depending on how much you drive, this may or may not be worth it. With my driving habits, if I found a vehicle that got 44% better gas mileage and assuming the price of gas remained under $4.00/gallon (big assumption at this point), it would take me six years to break even. Probably not worth it.

I admire you conservation attempts but holy cow, saving $500 per month on electricity. Just how much power are you using at you house for goodness sake? Our electric bill at the highest is less than $200 a month, so if your electric bill is now $0 at the least and you are saving $500, you are still using too much power.

Two story house on hill in SoCal, 90-100 degrees every day, 4 adults (at least one person in house 24 hrs per day), 2 air conditioners, one pool pump running 8 hours per day, and finally, our electrical rate for Edison Tier 4 is $.32 per KwH. Yours is probably around $.10 to .$12. Even the LADWP rate in Los Angeles is only around $.14. At $.12, it doesn’t make sense to install panels. At $.32, it’s less than a 5 year payout. It’s all political. Basically, they are just screwing the professional middle class.

If you can get your installed solar generation costs below $2.40 per Watt, your payback period will be twenty years at $0.12 per kWh, without any tax-credit subsidies, but only it you can take advantage of “net energy metering” (NEM) credits with your utility.

I generate 50+kWH per day (April, May, June) with 596 square feet of rooftop PV modules (28 315W 72-cell monocrystalline PV panels) installed with a 26.6 degree tilt at 195 degrees azimuth, and keep the house nicely cool in the Arizona desert. This is much more energy harvested than I use, enough to also keep a short-trip Nissan Leaf 24.5 kWh battery charged.

Solar panels cost a lot of money – unless there’s a tax credit… so the taxpayer paid for your solar panels — You saved money on the backs of the rest of the nation. No one would have solar panels in an unmodified market.

When it gets really hot, electrical demand grows so high that Edison has to buy spot out-of-state power for as much as $40 (not $.40) per KwH. This cost gets passed on in the rate base which increases the base cost for everyone. Because they can grab my power for free anytime they need it, their need for spot, out-of-state electricity is a lot lower. Also, local solar panels reduce the necessity of building multi billion dollar electricity transmission lines from the mid-west to California. These costs also get thrown into the rate base. One final consideration, most of the out-of-state electricity is produced from coal.

You are basically correct. Conservation is all economic, spend less and you conserve, since resources availability is a reflection of cost. The political system has distorted the market to a large extent, but money is still the only reliable measure of resource value.

The incalculable amount of variables which factor into
climate are impossible for us to comprehend much less measure, disseminate and
discern each influence with every other corresponding variable affected. It is
closer to chaos than picking out a handful of environmental flags and stating
such a blanket explanation as fact.

Even the simplest of processes become near chaotic when
examined in ever increasingly smaller scale much less planetary. Improvements
in data collection with disregard to localized environmental and topographic
variables (changed or underreported), coupled with the sheer amount of data
collected for comparison antiquates previous data in scope and methodology.

Climatology is political party, which explains the wildly
unreasonable reaction to qualified dissension in peer review, refusal of data
sharing and dismissal of the need for reproduction when errors and
falsifications are present. If it had remained in the scientific realm, it
would still be called Meteorology. Instead, the Socialist-Reeducational Complex
formed this industry which takes in more capital and produces less than any in
the history of man. That every climatologist concurs, what they were taught and
are now teaching is fact, means nothing. Experimenter bias can be attributed to
much more than a salary in the prestige of fronting humanity saving research in
our dire final hour, receiving awards and accolades and earning a prominent
place in the regulatory behemoth established to counter the contrived results
before they show no fruition. It might just focus data gathering at
predetermined locations of concentrated production of the conformational data required.

The embedded politics are on display when all importance is
placed on halting progress and limiting freedoms instead of countering the
perceived effects through their own means of collection, disposal, or
production of whatever they imagine will balance things out.

If man’s influence on climate change was correctly
represented as a hypothesis, it would not currently be the basis for the
regulatory systems being devised, causing apoplectic opposition to the
devastating economic ramifications and repression of civil liberties. Then research
with the removal of politics being of foremost prominence in the exclusion of
experimental bias would ensure the integrity of the studies and true consensus
    can be found.

What invariably happens is that they trot out old tried and true tactics, yelling, screaming, ad hominem attacks, ridicule, intimidation, taunting and physical intimidation. It is as if they were trained to use these tactics and some are. Others are not secure in their own knowledge to argue from evidence.

I am swamped in a sea of liberals because I’ve taught for 40 years and most of my colleagues are teacher-union members (although the left-leaning there is changing because many hate commie core), so to maintain respect and friendship I rarely try to argue with them. But I have found when confronted with actual facts, they often retreat to shaming (see Dinesh D’Souza’s movie America on that category): “You don’t want to ruin the environment, kill babies with asthma, kill whales with a polluted ocean, starve people in the streets, kill off the elderly, yadda?” or, the coup d’grace–”I just can’t believe that.”

Their ideas are religious beliefs and you can’t argue them. My favorite is the raising minimum raise bete noire–we have studies since it was first invented in the 1930s that show businesses 1) do not hire, 2) fire or reduce employees’ hours, and/or 3) raise the price of their products which A) keeps teens and young people trom gaining entry-level jobs, B) raises costs for businesses, and C) causes inflation of products. We have had 3 such “min. wage” raises since 2007 and in NJ, we have CODIFIED them in the state cons. through tax-payer vote!!! but if you argue the facts with anyone on the left, their riposte is “Don’t you want people to have a living wage?” My answer is “Yes, but working at the counter at Sears or McDonalds will never provide that” and I actually had a math teacher respond to me, “I just can’t understand those numbers.” I actually had never mentioned a number.

As a structural engineer I use complex analysis models that determine loads and stresses in structures that have a high degree of variable input. It is easy to change the outcome of my model by making slight changes to the structural elements such as the degree of stiffness of a connection or by changing the variables/coefficents representing the materials used in the construction. It’s easy for for me to understand how these “Scientists” get the results they are looking for by influencing the models to show the results they want. What they fail to do is adjust the model so that their results match real life data before they use the model to project the future climate. That and the fact that they neglect the most significant variable, the behavior of the sun.

I’ve looked and failed to find anything. My research (I’m a scientist) shows that since 1900 man has increased CO2 by 33% but CO2 in the atmosphere on whole is up only 1 in 10,000. Is it possible that a 1 in 10,000 increase in a trace atmospheric gas required for all life on the surface of the planet caused the 1.32 degree increase?

Anyone that doesn’t buy into the failed predictions of the global warming fraudsters is either stupid or bought off, so say the chicken little’s.

They can’t show even one prediction that has been close to true.

    Their models are wildly inaccurate.

Their CO2 hypothesis works fine in a jar in Professor Paidoff’s lab with simple inputs, but in the environment where a huge number of factors are present that they cannot model the trends of higher CO2 and lower temperatures befuddle them and make them scratch their tiny pointy heads.

Historical evidence also shows this in the climate record, but again it’s disregarded because it denies what they so feverishly want to believe.

The fact that temperatures are actually stable and or dropping is still not enough proof that their silly models and simplistic explanations for climate drivers are wrong.

They insist they are right, even though they have been found to be consistently wrong, they falsify data to prop up their positions, and when caught claim that it’s a completely valid method of proving they are right, even with all of that their models are not accurate.

I predict that someday we will be able to model the climate fairly accurately, and that what these phony scientist have been doing will be laughed at and considered to be the modern day equivalent of a Ouija Board, real scientist will wonder how these political hacks were ever taken seriously.

But wait, they have a battle cry “We were wrong, but now we are right! If you don’t listen you will be sorry in 5 years”

It’s the same one they have been using for the last 20 and people are just starting to laugh, it’s making them ever more desperate, and Obama who never met a law he didn’t wan’t to break will “Take executive action” to ensure that that AGW fraud remains alive.

“CO2 is the most important nutrient for all life on earth,” he noted.

Plants and photosynthetic bacteria need CO2 as much as we need oxygen. How would you like it if plants and microbes tried to reduce the amount of oxygen in the air in retaliation? it’s a good thing they’re almost as stupid as leftists!

I’m glad some honest people are coming out of the woodwork. There has been no global warming in 17 years. They US has been cooling ever so slightly for a decade. Can you imagine how much greater the cooling effect would have been in the last 50 years had man not contributed to the “warming” of the globe? Or did we actually contribute to its cooling since the 1930′s? Hmmmm…

We can do nothing about climate change, which is dramatic over long periods of time. Man has had almost nothing to do with these changes. On the other hand, we CAN do something about the REAL problem – POLLUTION. Isn’t it strange how mum the left is on that issue, especially in the US, the world’s #2 polluter? Want to know why? The Democrats are trying to double our population by year 2050 for political reasons. They know that increasing our population dramatically means becoming the world’s worst polluter by far. Twice as many people will produce almost twice as much land, water, and air pollution, despite all attempts to minimize it. But the left will NEVER reveal information that could disrupt their nation-wrecking plans. That’s where people like Dr. Moore and I step in. We tell you the truth and then ask you to trust but verify. Inject some common sense into the process while you’re at it

Well they were all screaming of a mini ice age and global cooling in the 70′s. That turned to Global Warming, now a more generic climate change. Any way you look at it Man has little to no actual impact of the Earth’s climate on a global scale. Our weather and the cooling and warming trends are dictated by our sun. The more active it is the hotter and more violent our weather. The sun is in the middle of a solar maximum thus increasing the likelihood of violent weather. Now as the sun’s activity starts to fall as it moves past the midway point in the cycle things will start to settle down. When the sun goes into its minimum phase temperatures will fall and could cause another mini ice age like the one that hit in the 1460′s

And now NOAA has finally (no doubt reluctantly) released temperature data from its subset of ultra accurate terrestrial temperature gauges. These are spread fairly uniformly across the US and have evidently been in place since 2005, so almost a decade. Turns out that the US temperature has, during that period, dropped by about 1/2 degree! I haven’t noticed any mention of this by the lying denying major news media.

Of course, that’s consistent. Neither have they been admitting that there has been no additional temperature increase for the past 17 years.

If you understand the dramatic effect CO2-breathing, oxygen-emitting cyanobactaria had on the earth’s early poisonous atmosphere BEFORE plant life came into existence, you should also understand that cyanobacteria alone can easily deal with man-made CO2. Not only do they welcome it, plants welcome it as well. They will increase in number, produce more oxygen in return, and that extra oxygen will interact with any extra methane produced by cow farts and termites.

Kill termites and make room for more cows! Oh, and keep warm this coming winter. It’s going to be brutal!

If you believe CO2 is truly the driver of climate change (I.E. Warming), here is one thing we all can do to help out just a little.

Smash your brains out with a brick.

As it turns out, science tells us that -just people- breathing puts out almost 3 billion tons of Carbon yearly. If we want to be really honest here, there are a lot of animals that breath as well. Those must also be killed. It’s the only way to preserve life as we know it.

    /sarcasm

It does amuse me that the carbon cycle is used as a method to say that breathing doesn’t add CO2 into the air but then it -completely ignores- the fact that all plants use CO2 in their respiratory system. It really amuses me when ‘Science’ with a capital ‘S’ then declares that we know how much CO2 is absorbed by plant life and therefore can make accurate predictions on how much will be left over after their cycle. Uh huh. Ok. At least they admit that they are guessing, but how about we don’t turn off our ability to generate -necessary electricity- in order to achieve that foolhardy and illogical goal.

Go invent fusion if you’re so good at ‘Science’ with a capital ‘S’. See, now -that- would be a solution instead of fear mongering. Instead we’re told that we need to go back to the stone age while our betters enjoy their air conditioning and private jets. Sorry. I don’t buy it. People become climatologists because they know it’s an exercise in futility that is impossible to prove. It’s the holy grail of science grant writing. Nothing more, nothing less.

(Oh snap, I forgot that when we die we add carbon into the environment. I guess we would actually need to launch ourselves into the sun to really get away. Only…what happens when you add 4 billion people into a star? Does it increase it’s output? Probably not, BUT THAT’S A DANGER! HOW CAN WE DIE SAFELY TO SAVE LIFE BY KILLING IT!?!)

The first step in learning is admitting that you don’t know.
You do not need more than a fifth grade education to look at the official government
and university monthly global temperature and CO2 databases dating from 1850 to conclude that the CO2 CAGW is invalid. These databases show multi-decade warming trends and cooling trends independent of the steady increase in CO2.
None of the 114 simulations of 37 CMIP5 models correspond to the following data.
      It was warming from 1850 to 1879, 1910 to 1942 and 1972 to 2002.
It was cooling from 1879 to 1910, 1942 to 1972 and from 2002 to now while CO2 was increasing.
In the last decade CO2 emission are increasing at a rate of over 3% which is twice the 1960s rate. In the last decade global temperatures have been declining.
If you are as smart as a fifth grader, you can look up this data yourself. Otherwise you can remain a useful idiot advertising yourself as such.

Maybe the comments are from, as you call them DENIERS because people are waking up the fact that Global warming is a bunch of BS. I guess you could say I’m an expert, I’ve seen 67 winters in my life so far and the last one was the coldest and snowiest I’ve ever seen. Snow on the pyramids in Cairo, snow in Jerusalem, people in Australia complaining it was the coldest summer they can remember, if anything we are going into another ice age. The left sent a boat last fall to Antarctica to prove the ice was disappearing, quess what! It got stuck in the ice, then the ship sent to rescue it got stuck too. Global Warming ROFLMAO

You are correct. Sceptics is the proper term. Sceptic implies that one is actually listening to the argument of the other side and weighing its validity. Being able to weigh the validity requires some knowledge of the topic. If the sceptics are correct, then you have today quite an amazing phenomenon in the history of modern science. Check out the wikipedia page “Scientific opinion on climate change.” The VAST consensus of those who should have the required knowledge are pro-AGW. The percentages hit the upper 90 percentiles. How can so many here so easily dismiss such an overwhelming opposition? A level of error in the scientific community at that great amount would point to a very dangerous and fundamental problem in the sciences. “Sceptics” should also be accompanied by “the greatly worried” if this is the case. It may be more productive to find out how such a dangerous phenomenon could occur. I’d like to hear that explanation.

Its pretty hard to argue against the patently obvious. So I guess we’re to believe that the founder of Greenpeace is part of the .01% of scientists who deny global warming? Right! And if you knew anything about scientific methodology you would no longer be a fence-sitter.

Yeah let me guess… 99.9% of all scientists believe in Global Warming. That statistic was produced by the same sloppy “scientific methodology” that drives this entire industry. “Well, let’s ask 100 scientists at a global warming conference what they think, and then we’ll just extrapolate that number for all scientists”. Some of them may know about scientific methodology, but if they do they’re using that knowledge to avoid it. And if AGW really exists and is the problem, why was it rebranded “Climate Change”? Because GW/CC is branding, messaging and control than it is about science. GW is nothing but politically motivated slop “science”. Period.

But Drudge is the only place you’ll find this. Go to the NYT site and look up this guy and his speech. You won’t find it. Why is that? What’s objective about that? According to your leftist enemies, the science is settled. Last time I checked, science was only science when it was proven through repeatable, observable experiments. Science is based in fact, not in the majority. The majority agrees doesn’t make it science. Don’t ever forget that, and you’ll find yourself on the path to rational thought in a world of irrational progressives.

In layman’s terms, we are all being sprayed with chemicals that are responsible for many of today’s ailments. It’s the crime of the century and nobody’s talking about it. Why? Carbon dioxide is the most important chemical for the production of plant life and food production. It is pumped into greenhouses in order to increase production and growth. Did you ever think that the push to reduce carbon dioxide could be a purposeful attempt to reduce food production causing worldwide famine and chaos? This would give the one worlders their excuse to take over everything.

Climate scientists did not make any such claim. You’re confused between the media and scientific literature. The majority of scientists have recognized the threat of warming since the 19th century when the greenhouse hypothesis was first argued. Nearly 200 years of physics research and the laws of thermodynamics prove beyond a doubt that increasing GHG impacts the global radiative balance i.e. a positive feedback.

Why do you keep confirming that you’re scientifically ignorant? Like drunks I usually ignore the ignorant but obviously you can read and Team Denial wants knowledgeable skeptical scientists on their side. So let me help you get some way to being knowledgeable and prevent you from embarrassing Team Denial by regurgitating debunkable nonsense.

Climate science as we know it today did not exist in the 1960s and 1970s. You regurgitate the enduring popular myth that suggests that in the 1970s the climate science community was predicting “global cooling” and an “imminent” ice age. Read the paper by M. Connolley, John Fleck, 2008: The Myth of the 1970s Global Cooling Scientific Consensus. Bull. Amer. Meteor. Soc., 89, 1325–1337. In essence, this paper shows the falsehood of the myth and more importantly describes how scientists of the time built the foundation on which the cohesive enterprise of modern climate science now rests.

Further, between 1965 and 1979, 44 scientific papers predicted warming, 20 were neutral and just 7 predicted cooling. So while predictions of cooling got more media attention, the majority of scientists were predicting warming even then. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn11643-climate-myths-they-predicted-global-cooling-in-the-1970s.html#.UzeSt_ldVF5

Back then actual science, using the scientific method was being used – scientists did not expect to become millionaires doing the drudgery that ‘true or actual’ science entails.
Today its all about consensus science, manipulation of data and most importantly, creating a majority of useful idiots – men that will believe “NOTHING” so they can be convinced into believing ‘ANYTHING’ that is told to them.

That rubbish has been thoroughly debunked by literally 100′s of articles published all over the world reporting on scientiest holding meetings and conferences to discuss the coming cooling to some even predicting an ice age.

CBS had ‘what’s his name’ report that scientists were so concerned about the inevitable ice age on our ‘doorstep’, that they pondered dropping a A-bomb on the north pole or covering it with soot to melt the ice and save America. You actually believe the media just made it up as they went along? What a joke pompus people like you are.

Unlike today, people were far more advanced in critical thinking than the current generation (who actually go to college but e.g. cannot name 1 of 100 U.S. Senators) and would not be reporting ‘crazy’ hoaxes like they do today e.g. this global warming crap that is nothing more than an attempt to create another ‘bubble’ to redistribute money to the rich and bankers, with cap and TRADE (and pay me my trillions in commissions and then pass on the increased in energy costs to the middle class).

You have your head up your rear you probably think Obama wants to skyrocket energy costs because he wants to ‘save’ the planet and not curry favor and become one of the ultra rich (the ONLY people he and his wife hang out with when they are not doing photo ops to fool dweebs like yourself).

Back then the media and the NY Times were trustworthy institutions – the Times was a paper read by millions – left and right and you could have a discussion. It was said back then that ‘….You could get a college degree by reading the NY Times….’ When the father died or retired and the son took over, he turned the NY Times into a leftist rag, that only fools like you read and believe.

What lie and rewrite of history are you going to tell us next? Lincoln was a democrat? Reagan is not a conservative?

Yeah that’s it climate change, that is what they are calling now. And their was “consensus” about the new ice age then, as their is about the earf catching fire now. I wonder what the weather fad will be in the next few years. Trust me when I say this, reporters will print what the “popular” science of the day happens to be.
So what about the GHG’s of thousands of years past. Now they are saying that this is due to human activity. What will they think of next?

I’m sure you consider the CRU at the University of East Anglia to be a credible source of climate science. You know the place – lifelong home of Phil Jones, of Climategate infamy, and its current director. When Jones was still a student, UEA established its Climate Research Unit. Its first director was Hubert Lamb. He was among those first predicting a coming ice age in the early 70s. Perhaps he wasn’t an actual climate scientist, but they have a building named for him on campus.

Any scientist worth their salt welcomes skepticism, criticism, and the opportunity for further inquiry. Quacks, on the other hand throw around phrases like “settled science” (of which there is no such thing). If Einstein had accepted that science was settled we would have never benefitted from the Theory of Relativity, and Special Relativity. Quacks also feel the need to make up perjorative labels for people who question their “conclusions,” like “Team Denial” “deniers” etc. Real scientists call people who question their conclusions “distinguished colleagues.”

And the Age of Reason(aka the Enlightenment) that followed where the strict application of the scientific method was de rigeur, and the dogged pursuit of objective scientific truth led to some of the greatest discoveries of mankind. You wont find that happening in today’s scientific community, which is ruled by political favoritism (aka Grant Money) to manufacture politically expedient “science.” Lets all hope for the Second Age of Reason to come along real soon…

Leftists worship “credentialed” people as if they are somehow perfect, objective humans with no possibility of greed, being intimidated, or just wanting to go with the crowd.

We all know that PhD’s are so objective and dedicated that they would never stoop to doing anything purely for money…

Which is why many of them are going into software development from things like English Literature…because you don’t need credentials and you can make much more money….

I agree that how CAGW is taught in schools must change.

The irony is that all student born after June 1996 have not experienced ONE DAY of “global warming” since global warming trends have been flat for the past 18 years:

    http://www.woodfortrees.org/plot/rss/from:1996.5/plot/rss/from:1996.5/trend/plot/esrl-co2/from:1996.5/normalise/trend/plot/esrl-co2/from:1996.5/normalise

The discrepancies between CAGW hypothetical projections vs. reality have become so large, under the rules of the Scientific Method, this entire hypothesis will have to be disconfirmed in about 5 years:

    http://www.drroyspencer.com/wp-content/uploads/CMIP5-73-models-vs-obs-20N-20S-MT-5-yr-means1.png

It’s a shame how gullible most people have become the CAGW scam.

$Trillions have been wasted already on this disconfirmed hypothesis, but it can’t last much longer. It’s already become a joke.

Don’t cut an paste when you’re not up to speed with climate science. Firstly, no models start in 1975, they are able to run the records back nearly 800,000 years. To demonstrate the alleged ‘pause’ in context show at least the last 10,000, 1,000, and 500 years (it disappears of course). Secondly, you have only given the global surface anomalies for 20S-20N and excluded the polar regions, upper and deep oceans where temperature anomalies were the highest in the record. Surface temperatures represent 2% of the overall warming of the global climate for which warming has ‘paused’ (similar pauses occur throughout the record – see prior note on selective data presentation). The other 98% goes to land, ice, upper and deep ocean warming which has increased in energy approximately 275 ZJ during the time period you proffer. Now if warming as you postulate has paused the energy gain would be zero ZJ. 90% of the energy is heating the upper and deep ocean with the latter now containing more than 40% of the increased energy. The oceans are heating at a rapid pace equivalent to 4 Hiroshima atomic bomb detonations per second. You may want to view the Kelvin wave that is currently emerging in the eastern Pacific and bringing some of this energy to the surface and 2014 and 2015 could be record troposphere temperatures.

We have often noticed that in the tabular statements of those compilers of weather records who write to the Times, useful and welcome as their communications are, every season is sure to be “extraordinary,” almost every month one of the driest or wettest, or windiest, coldest or hottest, ever known. Much observation, which ought to correct a tendency to exaggerate, seems in some minds to have rather a tendency to increase it.

He doesn’t respond to legitimate questions, but only responds with insult and arrogance. He apparently took part in Occupy Danbury (CT). Doesn’t that tell you all you need to know?

AGW plays on perceptual fallacies most people have about random phenomena or processes. In a true random process, like our climate (weather) system, records are always expected to be broken. This is in conflict with the human perceptual fallacy of consistency, e.g., that weather, or just about anything else for that matter should pretty much stay the same from year to year. Take sea levels, for example. There is a percpetion, again, the fallacy of consistency, that sea levels in a given area should be the same more or less. But, sea levels vary for a variety of reasons not related to melting ice or freezing ice. Anyone who has carried a large bowl of water filled to the rim knows how unstable and easily perturbed liquid surfaces can be.

I guess I’m one of the 20% because it’s bullshit to me so there is no
argument. If the so called intellectuals want to argue about something
they can’t control then that’s their business. No matter what we do we
can’t control the world. We can send ourselves back to the stone age and
it wouldn’t do a damn thing. Because the rest of the world won’t, in
fact they’ll double down. Also the arrogance of man thinking we can
control nature let alone the sun is astonishing to me. Bottom line until
you can get the giant solar panel’s and those goddamn ridiculous eagle
killing fans streamlined enough to replace the outlet on my wall no one
cares. So preach your scientific method all day no one cares, most don’t
even know what it is. But they know they want to flip a switch and turn
on their TV’s at the end of the day. Start fucking with that and see
how long “saving the environment” sticks around. You want to change the
world then create something world changing that can compete or eliminate
the current energy industry. Because when you try to control and
restrict people you fail miserably every time. The EPA is already a dead
agency they just haven’t figured it out yet. Same with the gov that
    runs it.

Depends what you mean by “don’t work”. I looked into solar for my home a year ago. Solar can’t even power half of my home, my roofer tells me it can cause roof damage and the payoff is 20 years. I can’t help but wonder if those panels would even last 20 years. They weren’t warranted for that long, so clearly the manufacturer wasn’t very confident.

They work, but they aren’t scalable to a level that can supply existing global energy needs, nor are they likely to be before the next ice age. Besides that, they only work where the sun shines or the wind blows. Any global catastrophe that diminishes insolation will render solar energy production even less adequate. Why don’t you acolytes ever think things all the way through? Stop pretending that you know anything about this. Smarter “folk” recognize you for what you are.

Of course the debate on *global warming* isn’t over. Oh I do love it when people call it *climate change*, as on Earth, climate change has been a constant since time began.

I don’t know if man is causing *climate change* or contributing or how much if we are. What I do believe is that many of the solutions are scams.

Carbon trading: a scam to line the pockets of the rich

Green energy loans: a corporate welfare scam, also a citizen welfare program with welfare subsidies for various purchases

Government taxes and regulations: power and control

Carbon neutral: allows rich people to continue to fly around in private jets, yet still pretend they care about the environment

I don’t trust people who use lies and coercion and chest pounding to further their position. In other words, I am highly suspect of the global warming movement. It has certainly become a political issue far more than it is science. And if man really is a major cause of global warming, that is unfortunate. It will take a lot for the shysters and con men to regain credibility after being caught being dishonest so many times. People with a legitimate argument generally don’t need to use such tactics.

100 reasons why climate change is natural

Climate change campaigners: 100 reasons why climate change is natural and not man-made []1) There is “no real scientific proof” that the current warming is caused by the rise of greenhouse gases from man’s activity.

    2) Man-madecarbon dioxide emissions throughout human history constitute less than 0.00022 percent of the total naturally emitted from the mantle of the earth during geological history.

    3) Warmer periods of the Earth’s history came around 800 years before rises in CO2 levels.

    4) After World War II, there was a huge surge in recorded CO2 emissions but global temperatures fell for four decades after 1940.

After World War II, there was a huge surge in recorded CO2 emissionsMore…

    • Climate change lies exposed

    • The Romans were producing greenhouse gases

    • Prince Charles in climate change warning

    5) Throughout the Earth’s history, temperatures have often been warmer than now and CO2 levels have often been higher – more than ten times as high.

    6) Significant changes in climate have continually occurred throughout geologic time.7) The 0.7C increase in the average global temperature over the last hundred years is entirely consistent with well-established, long-term, natural climate trends.

    8) The IPCC theory is driven by just 60 scientists and favourable reviewers not the 4,000 usually cited.

    9) Leaked e-mails from British climate scientists – in a scandal known as “Climate-gate” – suggest that that has been manipulated to exaggerate global warming

    10) A large body of scientific research suggests that the sun is responsible for the greater share of climate change during the past hundred years.11) Politicians and activiists claim rising sea levels are a direct cause of global warming but sea levels rates have been increasing steadily since the last ice age 10,000 ago

    12) Philip Stott, Emeritus Professor of Biogeography at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London says climate change is too complicated to be caused by just one factor, whether CO2 or clouds

    13) Peter Lilley MP said last month that “fewer people in Britain than in any other country believe in the importance of global warming. That is despite the fact that our Government and our political class—predominantly—are more committed to it than their counterparts in any other country in the world”.14) In pursuit of the global warming rhetoric, wind farms will do very little to nothing to reduce CO2 emissions

    15) Professor Plimer, Professor of Geology and Earth Sciences at the University of Adelaide, stated that the idea of taking a single trace gas in the atmosphere, accusing it and finding it guilty of total responsibility for climate change, is an “absurdity”

    16) A Harvard University astrophysicist and geophysicist, Willie Soon, said he is “embarrassed and puzzled” by the shallow science in papers that support the proposition that the earth faces a climate crisis caused by global warming.17) The science of what determines the earth’s temperature is in fact far from settled or understood.

    18) Despite activist concerns over CO2 levels, CO2 is a minor greenhouse gas, unlike water vapour which is tied to climate concerns, and which we can’t even pretend to control

    19) A petition by scientists trying to tell the world that the political and media portrayal of global warming is false was put forward in the Heidelberg Appeal in 1992. Today, more than 4,000 signatories, including 72 Nobel Prize winners, from 106 countries have signed it.20) It is claimed the average global temperature increased at a dangerously fast rate in the 20th century but the recent rate of average global temperature rise has been between 1 and 2 degrees C per century – within natural rates

    21) Professor Zbigniew Jaworowski, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Central Laboratory for Radiological Protection in Warsaw, Poland says the earth’s temperature has more to do with cloud cover and water vapor than CO2 concentration in the atmosphere.

    22) There is strong evidence from solar studies which suggests that the Earth’s current temperature stasis will be followed by climatic cooling over the next few decades

    23) It is myth that receding glaciers are proof of global warming as glaciers have been receding and growing cyclically for many centuries

    24) It is a falsehood that the earth’s poles are warming because that is natural variation and while the western Arctic may be getting somewhat warmer we also see that the Eastern Arctic and Greenland are getting colder

    25) The IPCC claims climate driven “impacts on biodiversity are significant and of key relevance” but those claims are simply not supported by scientific research

    26) The IPCC threat of climate change to the world’s species does not make sense as wild species are at least one million years old, which means they have all been through hundreds of climate cycles

    27) Research goes strongly against claims that CO2-induced global warming would cause catastrophic disintegration of the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets.

    28) Despite activist concerns over CO2 levels, rising CO2 levels are our best hope of raising crop yields to feed an ever-growing population

    29) The biggest climate change ever experienced on earth took place around 700 million years ago

    30) The slight increase in temperature which has been observed since 1900 is entirely consistent with well-established, long-term natural climate cycles

    31) Despite activist concerns over CO2 levels, rising CO2 levels of some so-called “greenhouse gases” may be contributing to higher oxygen levels and global cooling, not warming

    32) Accurate satellite, balloon and mountain top observations made over the last three decades have not shown any significant change in the long term rate of increase in global temperatures

    33) Today’s CO2 concentration of around 385 ppm is very low compared to most of the earth’s history – we actually live in a carbon-deficient atmosphere

    34) It is a myth that CO2 is the most common greenhouse gas because greenhouse gases form about 3% of the atmosphere by volume, and CO2 constitutes about 0.037% of the atmosphere

    35) It is a myth that computer models verify that CO2 increases will cause significant global warming because computer models can be made to “verify” anything

    36) There is no scientific or statistical evidence whatsoever that global warming will cause more storms and other weather extremes

    37) One statement deleted from a UN report in 1996 stated that “none of the studies cited above has shown clear evidence that we can attribute the observed climate changes to increases in greenhouse gases”

    38) The world “warmed” by 0.07 +/- 0.07 degrees C from 1999 to 2008, not the 0.20 degrees C expected by the IPCC

    39) The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change says “it is likely that future tropical cyclones (typhoons and hurricanes) will become more intense” but there has been no increase in the intensity or frequency of tropical cyclones globally

    40) Rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere can be shown not only to have a negligible effect on the Earth’s many ecosystems, but in some cases to be a positive help to many organisms

    41) Researchers who compare and contrast climate change impact on civilizations found warm periods are beneficial to mankind and cold periods harmful

    42) The Met Office asserts we are in the hottest decade since records began but this is precisely what the world should expect if the climate is cyclical

    43) Rising CO2 levels increase plant growth and make plants more resistant to drought and pests

    44) The historical increase in the air’s CO2 content has improved human nutrition by raising crop yields during the past 150 years

    45) The increase of the air’s CO2 content has probably helped lengthen human lifespans since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution

    46) The IPCC alleges that “climate change currently contributes to the global burden of disease and premature deaths” but the evidence shows that higher temperatures and rising CO2 levels has helped global populations

    47) In May of 2004, the Russian Academy of Sciences published a report concluding that the Kyoto Protocol has no scientific grounding at all.

    48) The “Climate-gate” scandal pointed to a expensive public campaign of disinformation and the denigration of scientists who opposed the belief that CO2 emissions were causing climate change

    49) The head of Britain’s climate change watchdog has predicted households will need to spend up to £15,000 on a full energy efficiency makeover if the Government is to meet its ambitious targets for cutting carbon emissions.

    50) Wind power is unlikely to be the answer to our energy needs. The wind power industry argues that there are “no direct subsidies” but it involves a total subsidy of as much as £60 per MWh which falls directly on electricity consumers. This burden will grow in line with attempts to achieve Wind power targets, according to a recent OFGEM report.

    51) Wind farms are not an efficient way to produce energy. The British Wind Energy Association (BWEA) accepts a figure of 75 per cent back-up power is required.

    52) Global temperatures are below the low end of IPCC predictions not at “at the top end of IPCC estimates”

    53) Climate alarmists have raised the concern over acidification of the oceans but Tom Segalstad from Oslo University in Norway , and others, have noted that the composition of ocean water – including CO2, calcium, and water – can act as a buffering agent in the acidification of the oceans.

    54) The UN’s IPCC computer models of human-caused global warming predict the emergence of a “hotspot” in the upper troposphere over the tropics. Former researcher in the Australian Department of Climate Change, David Evans, said there is no evidence of such a hotspot

    55) The argument that climate change is a of result of global warming caused by human activity is the argument of flat Earthers.

    56) The manner in which US President Barack Obama sidestepped Congress to order emission cuts shows how undemocratic and irrational the entire international decision-making process has become with regards to emission-target setting.

    57) William Kininmonth, a former head of the National Climate Centre and a consultant to the World Meteorological Organisation, wrote “the likely extent of global temperature rise from a doubling of CO2 is less than 1C. Such warming is well within the envelope of variation experienced during the past 10,000 years and insignificant in the context of glacial cycles during the past million years, when Earth has been predominantly very cold and covered by extensive ice sheets.”

    58) Canada has shown the world targets derived from the existing Kyoto commitments were always unrealistic and did not work for the country.

    59) In the lead up to the Copenhagen summit, David Davis MP said of previous climate summits, at Rio de Janeiro in 1992 and Kyoto in 1997 that many had promised greater cuts, but “neither happened”, but we are continuing along the same lines.

    60) The UK ’s environmental policy has a long-term price tag of about £55 billion, before taking into account the impact on its economic growth.

    61) The UN’s panel on climate change warned that Himalayan glaciers could melt to a fifth of current levels by 2035. J. Graham Cogley a professor at Ontario Trent University, claims this inaccurate stating the UN authors got the date from an earlier report wrong by more than 300 years.

    62) Under existing Kyoto obligations the EU has attempted to claim success, while actually increasing emissions by 13 per cent, according to Lord Lawson. In addition the EU has pursued this scheme by purchasing “offsets” from countries such as China paying them billions of dollars to destroy atmospheric pollutants, such as CFC-23, which were manufactured purely in order to be destroyed.

    63) It is claimed that the average global temperature was relatively unchanging in pre-industrial times but sky-rocketed since 1900, and will increase by several degrees more over the next 100 years according to Penn State University researcher Michael Mann. There is no convincing empirical evidence that past climate was unchanging, nor that 20th century changes in average global temperature were unusual or unnatural.

    64) Michael Mann of Penn State University has actually shown that the Medieval Warm Period and the Little Ice Age did in fact exist, which contrasts with his earlier work which produced the “hockey stick graph” which showed a constant temperature over the past thousand years or so followed by a recent dramatic upturn.

    65) The globe’s current approach to climate change in which major industrialised countries agree to nonsensical targets for their CO2 emissions by a given date, as it has been under the Kyoto system, is very expensive.

    66) The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed that a scientific team had emailed one another about using a “trick” for the sake of concealing a “decline” in temperatures when looking at the history of the Earth’s temperature.

    67) Global temperatures have not risen in any statistically-significant sense for 15 years and have actually been falling for nine years. The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed a scientific team had expressed dismay at the fact global warming was contrary to their predictions and admitted their inability to explain it was “a travesty”.

    68) The IPCC predicts that a warmer planet will lead to more extreme weather, including drought, flooding, storms, snow, and wildfires. But over the last century, during which the IPCC claims the world experienced more rapid warming than any time in the past two millennia, the world did not experience significantly greater trends in any of these extreme weather events.

    69) In explaining the average temperature standstill we are currently experiencing, the Met Office Hadley Centre ran a series of computer climate predictions and found in many of the computer runs there were decade-long standstills but none for 15 years – so it expects global warming to resume swiftly.

    70) Richard Lindzen, Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, wrote: “The notion of a static, unchanging climate is foreign to the history of the Earth or any other planet with a fluid envelope. Such hysteria (over global warming) simply represents the scientific illiteracy of much of the public, the susceptibility of the public to the substitution of repetition for truth.”

    71) Despite the 1997 Kyoto Protocol’s status as the flagship of the fight against climate change it has been a failure.

    72) The first phase of the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), which ran from 2005 to 2007 was a failure. Huge over-allocation of permits to pollute led to a collapse in the price of carbon from €33 to just €0.20 per tonne meaning the system did not reduce emissions at all.

    73) The EU trading scheme, to manage carbon emissions has completely failed and actually allows European businesses to duck out of making their emissions reductions at home by offsetting, which means paying for cuts to be made overseas instead.

    74) To date “cap and trade” carbon markets have done almost nothing to reduce emissions.

    75) In the United States , the cap-and-trade is an approach designed to control carbon emissions and will impose huge costs upon American citizens via a carbon tax on all goods and services produced in the United States. The average family of four can expect to pay an additional $1700, or £1,043, more each year. It is predicted that the United States will lose more than 2 million jobs as the result of cap-and-trade schemes.

    76) Dr Roy Spencer, a principal research scientist at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, has indicated that out of the 21 climate models tracked by the IPCC the differences in warming exhibited by those models is mostly the result of different strengths of positive cloud feedback – and that increasing CO2 is insufficient to explain global-average warming in the last 50 to 100 years.

    77) Why should politicians devote our scarce resources in a globally competitive world to a false and ill-defined problem, while ignoring the real problems the entire planet faces, such as: poverty, hunger, disease or terrorism.

    78) A proper analysis of ice core records from the past 650,000 years demonstrates that temperature increases have come before, and not resulted from, increases in CO2 by hundreds of years.

    79) Since the cause of global warming is mostly natural, then there is in actual fact very little we can do about it. (We are still not able to control the sun).

    80) A substantial number of the panel of 2,500 climate scientists on the United Nation’s International Panel on Climate Change, which created a statement on scientific unanimity on climate change and man-made global warming, were found to have serious concerns.

    81) The UK’s Met Office has been forced this year to re-examine 160 years of temperature data after admitting that public confidence in the science on man-made global warming has been shattered by revelations about the data.

    82) Politicians and activists push for renewable energy sources such as wind turbines under the rhetoric of climate change, but it is essentially about money – under the system of Renewable Obligations. Much of the money is paid for by consumers in electricity bills. It amounts to £1 billion a year.

    83) The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed that a scientific team had tampered with their own data so as to conceal inconsistencies and errors.

    84) The “Climate-gate” scandal revealed that a scientific team had campaigned for the removal of a learned journal’s editor, solely because he did not share their willingness to debase science for political purposes.

    85) Ice-core data clearly show that temperatures change centuries before concentrations of atmospheric CO2 change. Thus, there appears to be little evidence for insisting that changes in concentrations of CO2 are the cause of past temperature and climate change.

    86) There are no experimentally verified processes explaining how CO2 concentrations can fall in a few centuries without falling temperatures – in fact it is changing temperatures which cause changes in CO2 concentrations, which is consistent with experiments that show CO2 is the atmospheric gas most readily absorbed by water.

    87) The Government’s Renewable Energy Strategy contains a massive increase in electricity generation by wind power costing around £4 billion a year over the next twenty years. The benefits will be only £4 to £5 billion overall (not per annum). So costs will outnumber benefits by a range of between eleven and seventeen times.

    88) Whilst CO2 levels have indeed changed for various reasons, human and otherwise, just as they have throughout history, the CO2 content of the atmosphere has increased since the beginning of the industrial revolution, and the growth rate has now been constant for the past 25 years.

    89) It is a myth that CO2 is a pollutant, because nitrogen forms 80% of our atmosphere and human beings could not live in 100% nitrogen either: CO2 is no more a pollutant than nitrogen is and CO2 is essential to life.

    90) Politicians and climate activists make claims to rising sea levels but certain members in the IPCC chose an area to measure in Hong Kong that is subsiding. They used the record reading of 2.3 mm per year rise of sea level.

    91) The accepted global average temperature statistics used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change show that no ground-based warming has occurred since 1998.

    92) If one factors in non-greenhouse influences such as El Nino events and large volcanic eruptions, lower atmosphere satellite-based temperature measurements show little, if any, global warming since 1979, a period over which atmospheric CO2 has increased by 55 ppm (17 per cent).

    93) US President Barack Obama pledged to cut emissions by 2050 to equal those of 1910 when there were 92 million Americans. In 2050, there will be 420 million Americans, so Obama’s promise means that emissions per head will be approximately what they were in 1875. It simply will not happen.

    94) The European Union has already agreed to cut emissions by 20 percent to 2020, compared with 1990 levels, and is willing to increase the target to 30 percent. However, these are unachievable and the EU has already massively failed with its Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), as EU emissions actually rose by 0.8 percent from 2005 to 2006 and are known to be well above the Kyoto goal.

    95) Australia has stated it wants to slash greenhouse emissions by up to 25 percent below 2000 levels by 2020, but the pledges were so unpopular that the country’s Senate has voted against the carbon trading Bill, and the Opposition’s Party leader has now been ousted by a climate change sceptic.

    96) Canada plans to reduce emissions by 20 percent compared with 2006 levels by 2020, representing approximately a 3 percent cut from 1990 levels but it simultaneously defends its Alberta tar sands emissions and its record as one of the world’s highest per-capita emissions setters.

    97) India plans to reduce the ratio of emissions to production by 20-25 percent compared with 2005 levels by 2020, but all Government officials insist that since India has to grow for its development and poverty alleviation, it has to emit, because the economy is driven by carbon.

    98) The Leipzig Declaration in 1996, was signed by 110 scientists who said: “We – along with many of our fellow citizens – are apprehensive about the climate treaty conference scheduled for Kyoto, Japan, in December 1997” and “based on all the evidence available to us, we cannot subscribe to the politically inspired world view that envisages climate catastrophes and calls for hasty actions.”

    99) A US Oregon Petition Project stated “We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind. There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of CO2, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.”

    100) A report by the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change concluded “We find no support for the IPCC’s claim that climate observations during the twentieth century are either unprecedented or provide evidence of an anthropogenic effect on climate.”

Ecologist Dr. Patrick Moore, co-founder of Greenpeace, warned “I fear a global cooling,”
Not much else to take away from that.
Climate change is as natural as casting a shadow on the ground in the sunlight, to fear it remains stupid.
With CO2 levels higher, plants are growing richer and harvests are becoming more bountiful in places where there’s no drought going on.
In the end, CO2 has nothing to do with climate change,at best it’s changes are effects not causes, and plants grow in proportion to it’s availability.

150 years ago de Tocqueville wrote:

“After having thus taken each individual one by one into its powerful hands, and having molded him as it pleases, the sovereign power extends its arms over the entire society; it covers the surface of society with a network of small, complicated, minute, and uniform rules, which the most original minds and the most vigorous souls cannot break through to go beyond the crowd; it does not break wills, but it softens them, bends them and directs them; it rarely forces action, but it constantly opposes your acting; it does not destroy, it prevents birth; it does not tyrannize, it hinders, it represses, it enervates, it extinguishes, it stupifies, and finally it reduces each nation to being nothing more than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd.”

It is so entertaining when ‘Progressives’ who ‘understand science’ assume, Lisa Simpson-like, that their ideologically arrogated intellectual vanity is valid.

This is a great article. Finally, someone addresses the scientific method. Failing to adhere to this method (for whatever reason) greatly diminishes any conclusions of the “science.”

“Climate change” is a despotic progressive straw man. It just happens to
be and exceedingly useful tool of opportunity for stirring up passions in the
under-educated herds of livestock upon which the DesPro depends to stay
in democratic power. But after a time, every slide into despotism ceases
to depend on pedestrian controls of government by means of a polluted
electorate. Eventually, the guns will come out. This tendency is
already manifest in the surge of ‘militarized’ public safety
organizations. Organizations the president described as a “civilian national
    security force” . . . see

    http://tinyurl.com/64u93u

The president further asserted, “People of all ages, stations, and skills will be asked to serve.”

    The
climate change thingy is but one of many tools of intellectual
distraction described by the despotic progressive thinkers for
centuries but more recently advocated by Obama’s teachers. Obama and his
handlers are demonstrably in lock-step with Alinsky’s “Rules for
    Radicals”. See . . .

    http://tinyurl.com/cyqdy7l

Every minute and dollar expended in the great trashing of ideas and emotions on man made climate change are resources forever lost in the fight to correct our present path to economic and political destruction.

The Despotic Borg have infested our government from president to dog-catcher . . . resistance will soon be futile.

Not sure he ever bought into the notion that Greenpeace would morph into the despotic progressive tool for highjacking public opinion. After all, every one of the alphabet soup of bureaucratic administrative departments was launched on reasonable and honorable ideas.

But every tool of force (regulations and law = force) in the hands of dishonorable individuals is evenutally subverted. Once control of his honorable organization is lost, he had no option but to bail out.

Clearly, he has the cahones necessary to defend the ideas and goals which prompted his original idea and organization that promotes reasoned activity by honorable people to do a good thing.

I have never understood why we are absolutely certain that temperatures recorded during a time when man didn’t have the ability to flush a toilet are 100% accurate.

When I saw the NASA article (15 years ago or more) that stated the polar caps on all our planets had shrunk, (not just on mother earth) I knew that “man made global warming” was a sham. Now this Co founder of greenpeace fears cooling. I never understood the Liberal debate in the first place. Warm is good Right??? Ok, when the planet was in a warmer place we could support creatures the size of a 1% ers house, (that’s a dinosaur if your a recent product of the public school system) those creatures had to be fed Right?? So when the earth is warm we have plentiful FOOD!! When the earth was a big snowball there was little life or food. Get it? Warm GOOD, cold BAD, Man made? Hardly, unless there are martians burning carbon on all our planets.

The planet thrives when the weather is warm, it dies when the weather is cold. What is the optimum temperature of the Earth? You’re correct, ” Warm GOOD, cold BAD”. :-)

You deniers are truly ignorant. Your buddy Moore right here is a SNAKE who has gotten paid millions to spew his nonsense. It doesn’t surprise me that right wing/fox news flavored kool-aid drinking, Hannity loving nimrods would trust the 3% of climate scientists who deny global warming. I mean really guys what kind of stupid are you? Please do the rest of the world a favor and please don’t breed and give us another generation of STUPID!

Al Bore has gotten rich with his chicken little routine. Now there is a SNAKE. As for the right wing/foxnews flavored cool-aid drinking…bla bla bla… You skys a falling run for you lives neutered steers have to overlook the Fact that there has been no warming in 18 years and Antarctic Ice is at record levels. Uncle Albert makes a killing on a movie and slide shows showing poor Polar Bears stranded on Icebergs, but he doesn’t tell everyone that the can swim 100 miles and use Icebergs to hunt seals. Talk about ignorant, it takes a brain that is flat lining to accept the word of “scientists” who loose their gravy train grants if they don’t toe the line on global warming.

So warmist mystic enlightenment consists of ad hominem argument, abuse, character assassination. psychologizing, argument from universal assent, argument from authority and arbitrary assertion?

No one can accuse you of ignorance. You demonstrate mastery of almost every common logical fallacy.

More whales, more iron-enriched poop, more plankton blooms, less CO2. GP was correct to save the whales. Indeed, a portion of the problem was rendered by man’s disturbing the enviroment. Warming is good, but civilization will be difficult to migrate from the coast.

Bill O’Reilly has a huge audience, more than most others and he would gladly give you airtime !

Calling from the “woods” gets know where !!

We have a brainwashed youth, ruffly 12-22yrs old and know one “visibly” out there to tell them otherwise?
