Should we Celebrate! Global economic collapse amid lockdowns means we can meet UN Paris pact! -
Reuters: Global emissions of climate-changing gases are expected to drop 8% this year, according to the International Energy Agency. That is a touch more than the 7.6% drop scientists say is needed each year this decade to meet the Paris accord goal of holding global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial times.
UN Paris architect Christiana Figueres: We have an "incredible responsibility" to "actually converge the solutions -- at least the financial solutions -- to coronavirus to the financial solutions for climate. And it poured billions of dollars into a high-speed-rail system in California that has still not come to fruition.
