The new conspiracy frontline
BBC excerpt: As the pandemic progresses, vaccines take effect and many countries – particularly rich ones – inch closer to normality, this pivot from Covid towards climate change is something researchers have observed across a number of online spaces.
One way that ISD has seen this play out is around the term “climate lockdown”. It’s used to refer to the completely unfounded idea that in the future we might have Covid-style lockdowns to counteract climate change.
The term has found popularity with YouTubers who peddle conspiracy theories – but climate scientists say lockdowns would not be a serious climate change mitigation strategy. Covid lockdowns, for instance, only marginally reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
However, the distress caused by Covid and lockdowns – and the falsehoods that have sprung up around them – have laid the groundwork for yet more conspiracies to spread. A mindset has gripped a group of people who blame all bad news on shady plots by powerful people – rather than accepting the reality about the future of the planet.

Reality Check:
Flashback September 2020: Gates/Soros/Ford Foundation-funded Professor floats idea of ‘climate lockdown’ with bans on red meat, ‘extreme’ energy limits – Mariana Mazzucato warns that shutdown may be needed unless we ‘do capitalism differently’ … “Under a ‘climate lockdown,’ governments would limit private-vehicle use, ban consumption of red meat, and impose extreme energy-saving measures, while fossil-fuel companies would have to stop drilling,” she said. “To avoid such a scenario, we must overhaul our economic structures and do capitalism differently.” …
Watch: Morano’s full 25 min speech on Climate Lockdowns at Heartland Skeptic Conference in Las Vegas – October 2021 – CFACT’s Marc Morano gave a rousing speech addressing “Degraded Science and the Coming Great Reset.” Morano pulled headlines and quotes from mainstream media outlets that advocate for climate lockdowns that mimic covid lockdowns in the name of “saving the planet.” Under a climate lockdown, Morano explained, there would be little to no air travel, no new clothing, no private property, no meat eating, and of course, no use of traditional, reliable fossil fuel energy.
“If you’ve loved the last year and a half living under covid lockdowns, you’ll LOVE the coming climate lockdowns,” Morano quipped.
Soros/Gates-Funded Org ($6.5M): World May Need ‘Climate Lockdown’ – Now Project Syndicate (PS), a group both Soros and fellow liberal billionaire Bill Gates fund, is peddling a tyrannical proposal. … Tracking PS’s funding explained the tyrannical radicalism. Three groups within Soros’s Open Society Network ($1,242,105), along with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation ($5,280,186), have given PS at least $6,522,291 between 2012-2019.

Prepare for the Coming ‘Climate Lockdowns’ – ‘Govts would limit private-vehicle use, ban consumption of red meat, & impose extreme energy-saving measures…stop drilling’ – “Under a ‘climate lockdown,’ governments would limit private-vehicle use, ban consumption of red meat, and impose extreme energy-saving measures, while fossil-fuel companies would have to stop drilling,” writes Mariana Mazzucato, a professor at the Economics of Innovation and Public Value Center at University College London, in a paper titled “Avoiding a Climate Lockdown.” The title of her paper is very misleading. She believes climate lockdowns will be necessary unless we “overhaul our economic structures and do capitalism differently.”
Is a “Climate Lockdown” on the horizon? – By Kit Knightly
The report, titled “Avoiding a climate lockdown”, was written by Mariana Mazzucato, a professor of economics at University College London, and head of something called the Council on the Economics of Health for All, a division of the World Health Organization. It was first published in October 2020 by Project Syndicate, a non-profit media organization that is (predictably) funded through grants from the Open society Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and many, many others. After that, it was picked up and republished by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), which describes itself as “a global, CEO-led organization of over 200 leading businesses working together to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world.”. The WBCSD’s membership is essentially every major company in the world, including Chevron, BP, Bayer, Walmart, Google and Microsoft. Over 200 members totalling well over 8 TRILLION dollars in annual revenue. In short: an economist who works for the WHO has written a report concerning “climate lockdowns”, which has been published by both a Gates+Soros backed NGO AND a group representing almost every bank, oil company and tech giant on the planet.
Whatever it says, it clearly has the approval of the people who run the world. … The whole article is not an argument, so much as an ultimatum. A gun held to the public’s collective head. “Obviously we don’t want to lock you up inside your homes, force you to eat processed soy cubes and take away your cars,” they’re telling us, “but we might have to, if you don’t take our advice.”

Political Legitimacy, Authoritarianism, and Climate Change – Published online by Cambridge University Press – American Political Science Review – December 6, 2021
Abstract Excerpt: Is authoritarian power ever legitimate? … While, under normal conditions, maintaining democracy and rights is typically compatible with guaranteeing safety, in emergency situations, conflicts between these two aspects of legitimacy can and often do arise. A salient example of this is the COVID-19 pandemic, during which severe limitations on free movement and association have become legitimate techniques of government. Climate change poses an even graver threat to public safety. Consequently, I argue, legitimacy may require a similarly authoritarian approach.”
. .
The paper’s author Ross Mittaga, calls for “authoritarian environmentalism” to address the alleged climate “emergency.” : “It is ultimately an empirical question whether authoritarian governance is better able to realize desired environmental outcomes and, if so why and to what extent? Yet, it is undeniable that nearly all wealthy democratic states have failed to respond adequately to the climate crisis. By contrast, various less affluent authoritarian regimes have been successful in implementing stringent climate policies…”

UNEP Press Release: We need a total fossil fuel lockdown for a climate revolution – In the wake of the extraordinary economic decline due to COVID-19, the IEA predicts energy-related CO2 emissions are expected to fall by up to 8% in 2020. But 2019 emissions were the highest ever, and the relief is only temporary. Meeting the Paris targets would require an annual decrease of at least 7.6% to be maintained over the next 10 years. Says Adib: “Even if the lock-downs were to continue for a decade, the change would not be sufficient. At the current pace, with the current system and current market rules, it would take the world forever to come anywhere near a no-carbon system.”
CNN: France is set to ban short domestic flights in favor of train services, after lawmakers approved a plan that will see several air routes discontinued to reduce emissions…Left-wing MP Danièle Obono said the government’s plan to move away from a four-hour limit would “save the three routes that emit the most greenhouse gas: Paris-Nice, Paris-Toulouse, (and) Paris-Marseille.” … Last year, Austria’s flagship airline was ordered to replace one of its flights with a more frequent train service, in order to meet the environmental criteria of its government bailout.

Morano: ‘COVID lockdowns have brought the progressive dream of a one-party state to Western democracies’ – Canadian PM Joins Calls to Apply COVID Lessons to Climate Change – Epoch Times: Marc Morano of Climate Depot, who highlighted the remarks on his website, expressed concern about the power he thinks Trudeau and other world leaders may be seeking. “Declaring an emergency and then imposing without a vote the ‘solutions’ you want is what I believe Trudeau meant,” Morano told The Epoch Times. “COVID lockdowns have brought the Progressive dream of a one-party state to Western democracies,” Morano added.
Morano: And they want to keep these powers — permanently. See: Aug. 2021: Scottish Government seeks to make emergency Covid powers permanent &
Morano: “COVID lockdowns have empowered the unelected administrative state and given progressives their long-sought-after goal of one-party rule. We have been living under this one-party rule since March 2020. Around the globe, much of democracy has been suspended in favor of unelected bureaucrats and government executive orders ruling over us with regulations on every last detail of our lives. Covid lockdowns brought bans on backyard BBQs, weddings, funerals, curfews, stay-at-home orders, travel restrictions, limits on movement where you could only go out for what government bureaucrats deemed ‘essential services.’ All of this occurred, largely without legislative votes or public hearings. COVID lockdowns were truly a gift to the Left as Jane Fonda explained.” See: Watch: Jane Fonda says ‘COVID is God’s gift to the Left’

Nature Sustainability: Authors argue COVID restrictions, smart meters & tracking apps can be used as a stepping stone for a personal carbon allowance. – Published:
Journal article urges for “the need for a low-carbon recovery from the COVID-19 crisis” by using “personal carbon allowances (PCAs).” “A PCA scheme would entail all adults receiving an equal, tradable carbon allowance that reduces over time in line with national targets…encompassing individuals’ carbon emissions relating to travel, space heating, water heating and electricity.” … “Allowances were envisioned to be deducted from the personal budget with every payment for transport fuel, home-heating fuels and electricity bills. People in shortage would be able to purchase additional units in the personal carbon market from those with excess to sell. New, more ambitious PCA proposals include economy-wide emissions, encompassing food, services and consumption-related carbon emissions, for example.”
In particular, during the COVID-19 pandemic, restrictions on individuals for the sake of public health, and forms of individual accountability and responsibility that were unthinkable only one year before, have been adopted by millions of people. People may be more prepared to accept the tracking and limitations related to PCAs to achieve a safer climate and the many other benefits (for example, reduced air pollution and improved public health) associated with addressing the climate crisis.Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Other lessons that could be drawn relate to the public acceptance in some countries of additional surveillance and control in exchange for greater safety…Recent studies show how COVID-19 contact-tracing apps were successfully implemented with mandatory schemes in several East Asian countries, such as China, Taiwan and South Korea…Recent advances in smarter home and transport options make it possible to easily track and manage a large share of individuals’ emissions. Evidence from the roll-out of smart meters and informative displays can be used to design feedback that is highly effective in engaging individuals to reduce their energy-related emissions…In terms of implementation platforms, while in the 2000s carbon allowances were expected to be managed by a card, in the 2020s high ownership would make smartphones the preferred option for accounting and trading (while providing alternative options for the few without smartphones).
CNN: Further corruption of public health orgs: More than 230 medical journals warn (made-up number of) 1.5°C of ‘global warming’ could be ‘catastrophic’ for health – (Despite 99% drop in climate-related deaths since 1920!) – Human health is already being harmed by the climate crisis, and the impacts could become catastrophic and irreversible unless governments do much more to address global warming, the editors of more than 230 medical journals said in a joint editorial Monday..Among them are an increase in heat deaths, dehydration and kidney function loss, skin cancer, tropical infections, mental health issues, pregnancy complications, allergies, and heart and lung disease, and deaths associated with them…”Despite the world’s necessary preoccupation with Covid-19, we cannot wait for the pandemic to pass to rapidly reduce emissions,” the authors wrote, calling on governments to respond to the climate crisis with the same spirit of “unprecedented funding” dedicated to the pandemic.
Lund University academic: ‘To Halt Climate Change, We Need an Ecological Leninism’ – ‘State power should definitely be used’ to ban SUVs & private jets
British Medical Journal study: “To meet the planetary health diet recommendations, average meat consumption in Africa can slightly increase (2%), whereas in North America and Europe it needs to fall by 79% and 68%, respectively. … “Sustainable land travel will involve substantially fewer journeys by car and more journeys taken by foot, bicycle, and public transport, ensuring that all transport is carbon neutral and powered by renewable energy.” #
Breitbart News: A report produced by Cambridge University academics has called for foods with so-called high carbon footprints, such as dairy and meat, to be made more expensive in order to save the planet. The Cambridge University-led study published by the British Medical Journal (BMJ) says that “education” alone on changing diets towards more plant-based habits and abandoning car ownership is not enough. The report, “Changing Behaviour for Net Zero 2050” instead suggests there be “rapid, radical changes” to pricing in order to make normal food consumption and travel prohibitively expensive. In forcing people to abandon their cars, the scientists suggest increasing prices of fossil fuels and charging private car owners for road use, including “congestion zone charging and increased parking costs”. “Restricting availability and attractiveness of car use — eg, car-free zones, limited parking, traffic calming measures, and low-speed limits” was also recommended.

Holdren: “In a society that uses its 5,000-pound automobiles for half-mile round trips to the market to fetch a six-pack of beer, consumes the beer in buildings that are overcooled in summer and overheated in winter, and then throws the aluminum cans away at an energy loss equivalent to a third of a gallon of gasoline per six-pack, this ‘primitive existence’ argument strikes me as the most offensive kind of nonsense.”

“Government statements, actions and laws powerfully shape perceptions of normative and acceptable behavior. For instance, even with public criticism being high, many still perceived government approval as the yardstick for safe behaviour during COVID-19 ‘we’re allowed to do this now [so must be safe]…’. This reveals, for many, a deep set reverence for legitimate government authority, regardless of one’s personal political views.” …

The blueprint, however, emphasizes that tackling the climate crisis requires “significant behavioral change”. According to the document, titled Net Zero: principles for successful behavior change initiatives, and produced by the behavioral insights team, or “nudge unit”, the British public may have to reduce its demand for high-carbon activities such as flying and eating ruminant meat, among other changes. …

[A] substantial number of people still do not feel sufficiently personally threatened [by Covid-19]… The perceived level of personal threat needs to be increased among those who are complacent, using hard-hitting emotional messaging. To be effective this must also empower people by making clear the actions they can take to reduce the threat.

Out: COVID lockdowns. In: Climate lockdowns – ‘There could be a ban on ‘nonessential travel’ with hefty fines’– “Is it really such a stretch to think that a lockdown could be imposed (once again crashing the economy) to drastically cut emissions while we await the widespread availability of ‘affordable’ electric cars and charging stations? And even if it’s not something as drastic as a total lockdown, there could be a ban on ‘nonessential travel’ with hefty fines for driving anywhere except to your job, the grocery store or the doctor’s office. From there you can easily imagine an order limiting the sale or purchase of red meats or other unapproved foods.
Beyond that, the possibilities showing up on liberal wishlists are nearly endless. Driving to vote may be declared an unnecessary consumption of fossil fuels, so all voting could be mandated to be done by mail. Home air conditioning could be deemed too much of a risk to the environment. (It’s already been suggested.) And all of this could be done without a single elected representative ever casting a vote. Since it’s an ’emergency,’ executive orders can handle the whole thing.”Deleted UK Government Report Celebrates Publics’ ‘Powerful Tendency to Conform’ To COVID lockdowns – Seeks to ‘nudge’ public with same tactics for climate regs

Of course, a power grab in the name of science is something that the Left has been attempting for years in the name of climate change. The similarities between the apocalyptic rhetoric about COVID and that about climate change, often spouted by the same people, should not evade the attention of conservatives. …
If we can shut down the economy and force people to isolate [themselves] because of a virus that threatens a small percentage of humanity, what can we do when the entire Earth is threatened? My fear is that the Left has found in the totalitarian Fauci state the playbook that takes this entire COVID farce to the next level. If we can shut down everything, even churches, for 30 days to “stop the spread,” why not shut the entire economy down for half a year to save the planet?”

Paris Marx writing in Business Insider: “Making transit available within a 10-minute walk of people’s homes would not only encourage its use and create tens of millions of jobs, but could begin to transform our relationship to mobility. … There was a moment during the pandemic where it felt that change was not only possible, but was happening in front of our very eyes. Streets were closed to vehicles so people had space to move, and temporary bike lanes were thrown up to encourage cycling. …
We should seize this opportunity to challenge the past century of auto-oriented planning and emphasize walking, cycling, and transit use over driving. Not only would people’s quality of life improve, but if we’re serious about taking on the climate crisis, we need to significantly reduce the number of cars and SUVs on the road — regardless of what powers them.”

How COVID Lockdowns Handed Global Warming Extremists The Tools To Crush Freedom
“Wouldn’t it be grand, our technocrats think, if they could turn the COVID-19 emergency into a permanent emergency over climate? The possibilities are limitless.
Traveling? If we can lock you in your home to stop a virus, why can’t we trap you there so you don’t get in your gas-guzzling car or fly on a carbon-spewing airplane? Such wastefulness must be reserved for a select few, like the important leaders flying to international climate conferences.”
Yvo de Boer’s words sound prophetic when compared to the comments of climate campaigners in 2020 excited about the impact of the COVID lockdowns.
Climate activist Eric Holthaus said on April 22, 2020, about the impact of lockdowns on global CO2 emissions: “This is roughly the same pace that the IPCC says we need to sustain every year until 2030 to be on pace to limit global warming to 1.5C and hit the Paris climate goals. This is what ‘rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society’ looks like.”
Former secretary of state John Kerry opined, “It’s a tragically teachable moment. I don’t say this in a partisan way. But the parallels [between COVID-19 and climate change] are screaming at us, both positive and negative….You could just as easily replace the words climate change with COVID-19; it is truly the tale of two pandemics deferred, denied, and distorted, one with catastrophic consequences, the other with even greater risk if we don’t reverse course.”
“If one lesson from the pandemic is that taking serious action in a timely manner is key—then shouldn’t this also be true in terms of climate change?” asked Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the speaker of the House of Commons, at the G7 Speakers’ Meeting in 2020. Hoyle expressed his amazement at how readily the public had accepted the COVID lockdowns. “No-one could ever imagine that we would be wearing masks so readily and that we would all be so compliant,” he said. “People were prepared to accept limitations on personal choice and lifestyle—for the good of their own family and friends.”
In February of 2020, Democratic presidential primary candidate and mega–climate funder Tom Steyer laid out his plan for a climate police state. “I will declare a state of emergency on climate on the first day of my presidency. I will use the Executive emergency powers of the presidency to tell companies how they can generate electricity, what kind of cars they can build—on what schedule, what kind of buildings we’re gonna have, how we are going to use our public lands,” Steyer declared. “We need to rebuild this country in a climate-smart way…we don’t have a choice on this.”
In 2019, University of Copenhagen international relations professor Ole Wæver explained, “If there was something that was decided internationally by some more centralized procedure and every country was told ‘this is your emission target, it’s not negotiable, we can actually take military measures if you don’t fulfill it,’ then you would basically have to get that down the throat of your population, whether they like it or not.”
Youth activist Jamie Margolin wrote for Teen Vogue article titled, “Coronavirus Response Should Be a Model for How We Address Climate Change,” wrote – “If we can shut the world down to stop a virus, that also means it is possible to do the same for climate change. Treat all emergencies like emergencies!”
German Climate Advisor ‘proposes creation of a CO2 budget for every person on planet!’
‘Personal carbon trading scheme’: ‘Every adult in UK should be forced to use ‘carbon ration cards’, say MPs – Excerpt: Everyone would be given an annual carbon allowance to use when buying oil, gas, electricity and flights — Anyone who exceeds their entitlement would have to buy top-up credits from individuals who haven’t used up their allowance. […] The influential Environmental Audit Committee says a personal carbon trading scheme is the best and fairest way of cutting Britain’s CO2 emissions without penalizing the poor.

So, we’re learning more now about the sad toll of the corona lockdowns in this country. According to Joe Biden though, we could get another round of lockdowns. These, for a crisis that’s every bit as bad as the coronavirus, may be worse. That crisis, of course, says Joe Biden is climate change.

JOE BIDEN (D), PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: Today, I’m pleased to announce a team that will lead my administration’s ambitious plan to address the existential threat of our time, climate change.
Folks, we’re in a crisis just like we need to be a unified nation in response to COVID-19, we need a unified national response to climate change, and from this crisis, from these crises, I should say, we need to seize the opportunity to build back and build back better than we were before.

CARLSON A unified national response. It’s involuntary, that’s the one thing we know. What does it mean? Well, we’re learning that a World Health Organization staffer has written a report saying that a climate lockdown could be called for, just like a COVID lockdown, a climate lockdown.
Marc Morano is an author who has written a lot about climate change. He founded Climate Depot. He joins us tonight. Marc, thanks so much for coming on.
A climate lockdown. Now, I would laugh this off the table except we all just lived through the last 18 months, so we know that anything is possible. What does this mean exactly?
MARC MORANO, FOUNDER, CLIMATE DEPOT: Well, you know in my book “Green Fraud,” I detail two chapters on this, Tucker. This is — the climate activists were first of all jealous when the COVID lockdowns happened. They were beside themselves saying how is this happening? Everyone from Greta Thunberg to John Kerry, U.N. officials, and then they started saying, we need to follow this.
If we can shut down for a virus, we can shut down for climate, and that’s what we’re seeing. There’s even academics in Australia proposing adding climate change to death certificates, and Bill Gates has said the death toll will be greater.
So, they’re following every step of the way and it’s not just, you know, a professor here or someone in academia, we have a major U.K. report coming out. We have an international agency report that came out calling for essentially the same type of lockdowns, everything from restrictions on your thermostat to restrictions of moving. You know, you can only fly in a climate emergency when it’s quote, “morally justifiable.” You know kind of like a lockdown, you have to justify going to the store for essential services.
They’re going after freedom of movement. They’re going after private car ownership. They’re going after everything it means to be a free person and turning it over to the administrative state.
CARLSON: Would this include shutting down the iPhone factories in China? Would china and India participate in this climate lockdown? Or is it kind of you first, America?
MORANO: Well, you know, as we know the lockdowns had never been proposed. We felt like lemmings following the Chinese Communist Party in terms of them recommending lockdowns. The World Health Organization went after it. The World Health Organization employees are now recommending these climate lockdowns.
The one country that won’t be affected is China. As you say, as we’re sitting home binge-watching Netflix, we’re not going to be able to have the freedoms we used to have. In the U.K., they propose CO2 ration cards that the government or employers would monitor your CO2 levels. You know your energy use, your travel, the type of car you drive.
If you exceed a level, you pay penalties. If you’re under, you get credits.
This is the world, a CO2 budget for every man, woman, and child on the planet has been proposed by a German climate adviser. This is our — this is what we’re looking at.
You know, I talked to a German who talked about East Germany. They used to have these kind of restrictions in East Germany before you could leave the country, but we’re talking about proposing these now on Americans within the country, and we had this of course with COVID. They were talking about bans on interstate travel at one point, a national ban, some of Biden’s advisers.
So, anything is possible. Chuck Schumer is urging Biden to declare a national climate emergency just like a blue state governor, he could have emergency powers.
CARLSON: I feel such a deep shame that Americans complied with what we’ve just been through and I hope that they will not comply with this. I really do.
Marc, thanks so much for coming on.
MORANO: Sure. Thank you, Tucker.
CARLSON: We’ll see you again, for sure.
We’ll be back tomorrow, every night, the show that is the sworn enemy of lying, pomposity, smugness, and groupthink.

Watch: New Zealand COVID ‘expert’ pushes climate lockdowns next: ‘We can do this for climate change’
Siouxsie Wiles, interview with John Campbell Apr 2021, TV1. TheBFD.
April 13, 2021 on TV1 New Zealand: Excerpt of microbiologist and science communicator Dr. Siouxsie Wiles, head of University of Auckland’s Bioluminescent Superbugs Lab – Wiles official bio refers to her as “that pink-haired science lady”: (UK Guardian calls Dr. Wiles “one of New Zealand’s most prominent pandemic communicators“:
“I hope that you know, people take from our responses that we can do this for other things too, you know, we can do this for the other, ah diseases that we have here in New Zealand, we can do this for climate change, umm and I think we should not underestimate actually, the kind of soft power now that New Zealand has, that we can really be an exemplar for how to be a good society, how to use evidence in the right way, you know and we’re not doing it for everything, so I, I think we, you know, we can show actually, wh’d why, wouldn, why wouldn’t we do this for other things?”

Radical resetters publish plan to wreck America and the free world
A peer-reviewed study by five lead authors published June 29th in the journal Global Environmental Change:
Slash annual energy use per person from Canada – 232 Gigajoules (GJ), U.S. – 204 GJ, and France 95 – GJ to a very low 27 GJ per year
“Fairer income distribution is crucial for achieving decent living standards at low energy use”
“To reduce existing income disparities, governments could raise minimum wages, provide a Universal Basic Income, and introduce a maximum income”
“We also need much higher taxes on high incomes, and lower taxes on low incomes”
Move from “an animal-based to a plant-based diet”
Move from “individual to collective transport”
Move from “motorized to active” (walking and cycling) travel
“Economic growth beyond moderate levels of affluence is detrimental for aspirations of sustainable development”.
“Degrowth… is an idea whose time has come”
“In short,” the study’s authors sum up, “we need to abandon economic growth in affluent countries, scale back resource extraction, and prioritize public services, basic infrastructures and fair income distributions everywhere.”
iNews article by Andrew Marr. Where he literally uses the phrase “hinge to climate from Covid” several times:
There is a great turn coming, a change in the terms of political debate, a period of hinge. We are swinging from the many months of coronavirus obsession into an autumn which will be dominated, rightly, by the climate emergency. But much of what we have learned from Covid-19 – about the state, authority, journalism and civil society – is directly applicable to what’s coming next.” … Of course, the two challenges are different. So far, a little over 4.3 million people have died from Covid. Australian and Chinese academics estimate that around five million people are dying each year from the effects of climate change […] Suffice it to say that even if the Delta variant is the most infectious disease mankind has so far faced, the climate emergency is at another level – a reshaper of geography, highly unpredictable and, in short, existential for the planet and its inhabitants.
…
It’s not hard to see exactly where this all leads. Mostly because they’re telling us. Establishment voices have already talked about “climate lockdowns”, and the UK’s Science Advisor Patrick Vallance wrote, last week, about how: “nothing short of transforming society will avert catastrophe” This isn’t new. This has been bubbling along in the background for months (I have already written two articles about it), but the message is being refined into a simple three-step process:
- Point out all the ways Covid and climate change are similar.
- Emphasise that Climate Change is much more of a threat than Covid. Use the word “existential. A lot.
- Argue that since we were willing to change to fight Covid, we should do the same for climate.[optional]

Prepare for the Coming ‘Climate Lockdowns’ – ‘Govts would limit private-vehicle use’
Want to Lock Down for the Climate? Hitting environmentalists’ emission timetables would take far more than even what the pandemic forced. – Bjorn Lomborg: “Cutting fossil fuels as quickly as some environmentalists want will be tremendously difficult. In 2020 pandemic lockdowns forced the world to cut carbon emissions significantly. But to fulfill the Paris climate accords completely, the United Nations says that global emissions would have to plunge even further every year for the rest of the decade. In 2021 emissions would have to drop by more than double the lockdown-induced decline. By the end of 2030, they’d have to have fallen by 11 times what they did in 2020. Not exactly realistic.”
