One of the needed ingredients for people to govern themselves is free exchange of ideas. In a free society, the best ideas will come to the forefront. People elected to govern adopt or reject those ideas, and are held accountable to the electorate. That is how it is supposed to work. A key ingredient is the free exchange of ideas and the TRUST IN THE PEOPLE that they will be able to discern the best ideas. This is opposite of a top down form of governance where the people that are elected to serve, instead decide what is best for the people that elected them. Obviously that is backwards to the form of government the founders intended (which may be the point of all we are seeing). I believe our nation is now post constitutional, and the shutting down of free exchange of ideas means it is highly unlikely we will go back to what our nation is supposed to be, and was, which is why our nation was the envy of the world.
The fact is we grew complacent and comfortable. And the constitution allows the freedoms to be able to challenge and change, but it is not supposed to be a national suicide pact. What appears to be happening is people have figured out how to USE the constitution to distort and dismantle it. Once in power, they will not relinquish it. It is that simple.
So what is my point? In a society with free will, where people are trusted, the best ideas will come to the forefront and there is no need for the kind of isolation, demonization and destruction that we are seeing today. Which by the way is straight out of Saul Alinsky, a Marxist, in his book, Rules for Radicals.
Take climate. I bet few have heard about a recent paper showing arctic sea ice was as low or lower in the 1940s than today.
This should be a huge deal given the panic caused by the imminent inundation of our cities that is being pushed. (yet we build Miami beach on a man-made sandbar, and former president Obama purchases a house 3 feet above sea level facing south in a place that if the 1938 hurricane ever returned to, or the storms of 1954 would likely be devastated. I do not begrudge him such great success, in fact I rejoice in it for him. It shows exactly how the system he grew up in can produce such fantastic success stories). But if you are so concerned about storms getting worse and sea levels rising, why are you buying that house there? Why would banks lend money for any development on the coast? But when something happens, what do we hear? It is worse than ever. Its outright Weaponization of Weather ( Clever term, should make a book out of it, oh wait I did: phonyclimatewar.com )

You will not find anything under those headers because it was under the auspices of the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the former administration, and because the seal of the office was used, the people responsible WERE FIRED and all these are no longer available. Never mind each and the flyers were by highly educated people that showed other aspects of the climate debate. The information is purged and you can not find it here. So a technicality has cost a couple of great scientists their jobs for1 , and for 2 the information in all these flyers, which would allow people to look at and judge for themselves, is not available.

Here is a forecast we can all rely on. Expect to see climate catastrophe stories ramp up. The irony of all this is: I BENEFIT FROM EXTREME WEATHER. NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE WEATHER IF IT’S NICE. So why would I be bringing up the counter to all this?
Because it is what I was taught to do. Education is about questioning authority, finding the true why behind the what. Indoctrination is about bowing to authority and doing what one is told. Somehow, I don’t think the founders intended it to be like that, and it is certainly not how to get to the correct answer if the goal was to get to that answer, in something like weather and climate.
Which it obviously is no longer about.
