Eco-sins: Progressive seminary urges people to ‘confess to the plants in your life’ as part of ‘building new bridges to the natural world’

A progressive New York based seminary committed to social justice is urging people to “confess” to their plants.
“Today in chapel, we confessed to plants. Together, we held our grief, joy, regret, hope, guilt and sorrow in prayer; offering them to the beings who sustain us but whose gift we too often fail to honor. What do you confess to the plants in your life?” asked the tweet from the Union Seminary.
“In worship, our community confessed the harm we’ve done to plants, speaking directly in repentance,” the seminary explained.
The New York based Union Seminary @UnionSeminary describes itself as promoting a “progressive theology” where “faith and scholarship meet to reimagine the work of justice.” “Union envisions a future in which teaching and learning continues to be ecumenical in spirit, supporting a record of academic excellence and a deep commitment to social justice,” according to the website.
