“Beto claims to support the Green New Deal, but his plan is out of line with [the] timeline it lays out and the scale of action that scientists say is necessary here in the United States to give our generation a livable future,” Sunrise Movement executive director Varshini Prakash said in a statement.
The Sunrise Movement sees Beto's plan as woefully inadequate. "By 2050 there could be 100 million climate refugees...tens of millions could die," the group claimed.

Obama administration scientist says climate ‘emergency’ is based on fallacy
Dr. Steven Koonin was the undersecretary for science at the U.S. Department of Energy in the Obama administration.
Koonin: "Both research literature and government reports state clearly that heat waves in the US are now no more common than they were in 1900, and that the warmest temperatures in the US have not risen in the past fifty years. When I tell people this, most are incredulous. Some gasp. And some get downright hostile." ...

Deep Ocean Warming Could Be Mostly Natural: A related issue is how much the deep oceans are warming. As I have mentioned before, the (inarguable) energy imbalance associated with deep-ocean warming in recent decades is only about 1 part (less than 1 Watt per sq. m) in 300 of the natural energy flows in the climate system. This is a very tiny energy imbalance in the climate system. We know NONE of the natural energy flows to that level of accuracy. What that means is that global warming could be mostly natural, and we would not even know it.
