Lomborg: 'Right now we are subsidizing incredibly inefficient solar and wind we are probably spending about $100 billion globally for that and it cuts almost no CO2. Remember the entire world, all the solar panels, all the wind turbines reduce our carbon emissions by 1/3 of 1%. It's really not working. Fracking, just in the U.S. reduces carbon emissions more than all the solar and wind in the entire world. Because you switch from coal that pollutes a lot more to gas that pollutes less.'
'We often forget things are moving in the right direction. Remember 100 years ago, our cities were incredibly polluted, probably more pollution than Beijing is today. And what happened is we cleaned up our act because we got rich and that is what we need the developing world to do...About 3 Billion people cook and keep warming basically using twigs and done. And that gives indoor air pollution that is probably 10 times as bad as Beijing. The solution is to get them rich enough so they will start getting electricity so they don't have to cook indoors.
