Congressional global warming hearing features warmist scientist vs. warmist scientist on key point of whether current Earth’s temps and weather are unprecedented

Excerpt: Climate Depot's Morano called the event 'refreshing.' 'When actual debate occurs like we saw at the hearing, we see just how much of man-made climate fears are based on 'projections,' 'predictions' and 'maybes,'' Morano said. He pointed out that scientists on the panel did not agree on several key points. 'Team global warming had a scientific civil war going on during the debate about whether there was a current global warming signal in our global average [temperatures] or even weather,' he said.'

  • New Study: Carbon Dioxide is innocent – peer-reviewed — ‘That’s it! The Game is up!’

'In the peer-reviewed journal 'International Journal of Modern Physics B' (link) Q.-B. LU from the Department of Physics and Astronomy and Departments of Biology and Chemistry, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada has detailed a research paper:  'Conventional thinking says that the emission of human-made non-CFC gases such as carbon dioxide has mainly contributed to global warming. But we have observed data going back to the Industrial Revolution that convincingly shows that conventional understanding is wrong,' said Qing-Bin Lu. (link)

  • Following Climate Hearing, Rep. David B McKinley declares ‘the science is not settled’: Don’t Hurt U.S. Economy Based on Ideological Agenda

Rep. McKinley: 'The discussion yesterday reinforced that the science is not settled on the role of humans in climate change. There is no reason to put our economy at risk for the sake of an ideological agenda. Congress cannot let President Obama do this by acting unilaterally on climate change.'

  • Climatologist Dr. John Christy’s testimony at Congressional Global Warming Hearing: ‘Climate Change Overview in Six Slides’

    The main takeaway points:

    • Popular scare stories that weather extremes – hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, floods — are getting worse are not based on fact.
    • In the U.S., high temperature records are not becoming more numerous.
    • Climate models significantly overestimated warming during the past 15 years.
    • Even if climate models were correct, a 50% reduction in U.S. CO2 emissions by 2050 would avert only 0.07°C of warming by 2100.
    • If a policy is not economically sustainable, it’s not politically sustainable.
    • The climate change impact of enhancing CO2 concentrations has so far been small compared to the public health and biospheric benefits provided by affordable, carbon-based energy.

Submitted Written Testimony of Climate Depot’s Marc Morano at Congressional Hearing on Climate Change: ‘The Origins and Response to Climate Change’

Morano to the U.S. Congress: 'The scientific reality is that on virtually every claim — from A-Z — the claims of the promoters of man-made climate fears are failing, and in many instances the claims are moving in the opposite direction. The global warming movement is suffering the scientific death of a thousand cuts.'

  • Say What?! Toss out 30 years of fear?! New Study: ‘CO2 not responsible for global warming’

'Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) — not carbon emissions — are the real culprit behind global warming, claims a  new studyout of the University of Waterloo. “Conventional thinking says that the emission of human-made non-CFC gases such as carbon dioxide has mainly contributed to global warming. But we have observed data going back to the Industrial Revolution that convincingly shows that conventional understanding is wrong,” said Qing-Bin Lu, a science professor at the University of Waterloo and author of the study. “In fact, the data shows that CFCs conspiring with cosmic rays caused both the polar ozone hole and global warming,” Lu said.'

  • More Media Coverage of Congressional Climate Hearing: Experts: Diverse views on climate change

'Dr. John Christy, professor of atmospheric science and director of the Earth System Science Center at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, who joined the summit via video conferencing, told the audience that high-temperature records are not becoming more numerous in the United States. He said current climate models can be very wrong statistically.'

  • The Media Is Lying About Greenland and Climate Change – It has in fact rained on Greenland before

Last week, media outlets across the globe claimed that there has been rain for the first time at the Greenland summit.  “Rain fell at the normally snowy summit of Greenland for the first time on record,” read CNN’s headlines. Others went a step further and declared it a sign of climate doomsday. “Rain On Greenland Ice Sheet, Possibly A First, Signals Climate Change Risk,” read another headline.  Unfortunately, for the mainstream media, climate history nearly always comes back to haunt their claims of unprecedented events. Records reveal that this is not the first rainfall in Greenland, and certainly not the first on the Greenland summit peak, which stands at around 10,000 feet.

  • Say what? Failing to act on climate change could ‘finally expose China as a global outlaw’!? — Not concentration camps, ethnic cleansing, slave labor, collectivism & authoritarian control?!

NY Post: Ponder this rhetorical question, posed by a columnist at The Hill: “Could climate change finally expose China as a global outlaw?” So it wasn’t the concentration camps that did it. Or the ethnic cleansing. Or the slave labor. Or the decades of collectivist-induced economic misery and authoritarian control. Or the state censorship. It was Beijing’s violations of the Paris Accord.

Indeed, certain pundits have been openly envious of the ability of Chinese Communists to compel their citizens to adopt carbon-mitigation policies. The commissars must be such a disappointment to them.

  • Arctic September Minimum Sea Ice Extent Trend RISING Over Past 10 Years – Norwegian Data

OSI Arctic sea ice minimum since 2012 ftp://osisaf.met.no/prod_test/ice/index/v2p1/nh/osisaf_nh_sie_daily.txt

September minimum trend has contradicted Al Gore’s predictions of an ice free Arctic. Whether sea ice has turned the corner and will start a recovery still remains to be seen. One thing is certain: The predictions of an ice-free Arctic soon made a decade ago were flat out wrong.
