Jumping Ship: Democrat-leaning farm group turns against House climate bill — ‘Urges lawmakers to vote against it’

Till This: Far Left Farm Group Informs Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Waxman, That It Will Be Urging Its Members to Oppose Cap-and-Raid.

E&E News (6/15, subs. req’d) reports, “The National Farmers Union, a Democratic-leaning farm group that has called for Congress to take action on cap-and-trade climate legislation, today came out against the massive energy and climate bill in the House. Unless the bill, H.R. 2454, from the Energy and Commerce Committee “is improved with regard to agricultural offsets,” the group would urge lawmakers to vote against it, NFU President Roger Johnson said today. “NFU has been proactive and constructive throughout the legislative process and would very much like to support climate change legislation,” Johnson said in a statement. “However, the Energy and Commerce Committee failed to adequately address any of our priorities.”
