Another Earth Day has come and gone, and with it came more dire warnings about changing our way of living or facing a global apocalypse.
“Climate change is real and increasingly a part of our daily lives,” reported USA Today in its 5 Things You Need To Know for April 22.
“New research and studies out in just the past six months,” the story warns, “highlight the latest facts about the human-caused shift to our global weather systems and its effects on our planet.”
According to the news story, there’s no longer any question if rising temperatures and increasingly chaotic weather are the work of humanity. (99.9999% chance humans are causing global warming, and other science-based facts on climate change for Earth Day)
“There’s a 99.9999% chance that humans are the cause of global warming,” said the news outlet, citing a February study reported. “That means we’ve reached the ‘gold standard’ for certainty, a statistical measure typically used in particle physics.”
Marc Morano of Climate Depot, a skeptic of catastrophic man-made climate change, or global warming, insists he is more concerned with the hype.
“‘Climate change is real and increasingly part of our daily lives’ is a meaningless statement,” he insists, “(because) the climate has always been part of our daily lives ”
What that argument really means, he tells OneNewsNow, is that any storm, anywhere on the planet, can be blamed on global warming.
As for the 99.9999 percent chance, Morano calls that “a load of nonsense.”
“The models are tuned to show that humans are the cause, and they admit the models don’t account for things in nature,” he says. “And models are not evidence. Models are not proof. They are tuned by the programmer to get the result they want.”
Still not done trashing the USA Today story, Morano adds that it’s laughable to claim a “99.99 percent” consensus and use the term “gold standard” for good measure.
