You gotta love the “for now” qualifier. Liberals never let complete support of a bid idea stand in the way of “progress” and blindly executing their strategy. Progressives won’t stop until they get open borders and turn America into the next Venezuela. You also gotta love how the NYTs publishes this just as the Democrats take the House and can actually implement their insane strategy. They will only push this nonsense when they won’t bear the cost. They only use this issue to make the opposition look bad. It is all pure despicable politics. Forget the Carbon Tax for Now It’s politically toxic. There are other ways to cut greenhouse gas emissions. By Justin Gillis Mr. Gillis is a former New York Times environmental reporter and a contributing opinion writer. The violent demonstrations that flared this fall in France were a culmination of decades of rising anger among the working class, it is true, but they were triggered by plans to impose a tax hike on gasoline and diesel fuel at the pump in the name of fighting climate change. Only three years ago, French monuments were bathed in green floodlights to celebrate a global deal negotiated in a Paris suburb to limit emissions; now we are scraping ugly slogans off those monuments. Days before the French fury boiled over in November, voters in one of most liberal American states, Washington, once again rejected a plan to tax emissions of carbon dioxide in the name of fighting climate change.
